Inspired by… Artdeco “Majestic Beauty” Fall 2014

If you are not familiar with the “Inspired by…” series, click here for an explanation.

But short story even shorter, each month I choose a seasonal ad and try to recreate the models look with colors I already own.
Dressing up and awkward posing included!

And even though summer has just yet started,it is time for the autumnal collections now. I got so excited browsing the pictures of smokey eye and berry lips that it must somehow evaded my attention  that the collection I chose was from 2014 already…

Artdeco “Majestic Beauty” Fall 2014
But as I love it (and it is way to late to shoot another look), here is my take on Artdecos “Majestic Beauty” Collection Fall 2014.

Once again, no Photoshop (or lip injections), so I look quite different to the model.

Purple smokey eyes and a red lip
Many fall collections are a lot richer than the easy, light summer makeup, and this one is no exception. A purple smokey eye is paired with a red lip and a heavy contour that somehow doesn’t show as much as intended in my version.
Here is a close-up of the eyes:
Purple smokey eyes
How I did my base:
A flawless face with a heavy contour and highlight, not as dewy as the summer looks, but with a velvet finish I really like.
But I had problem: I don’t own any high coverage foundations anymore.
So I went in with the MAC Concealer Palette to really cover up any imperfections and at the same time use the yellow shade as a cream highlight. To even out the complexion and to blend everything in Laura Merciers Tinted Moisturizer was dabbed on with a beauty blender and everything set in place with IsaDora Velvet Touch powder.
To work out the contour some more I used The Body Shop Honey Bronze on the hollows of my cheek and MAC Beauty Powder in Shell Pearl on the high points of my face.
Sadly everything looks a little washed out in the picture, if you follow me on Instagram you would have seen another shot that showed the contour much better.

How I did my eyes and lips:
The grey toned purple smokey eyes had me bust out my mixing skills again.
My purple eyeshadow was too bright, so I toned it down using NYX Jumbo Pencil as a black base and smudged it into the lower lash line with a dark brown eyeshadow, all finished with heavy coating of Revlons mascara.
On my lips I used a brick red lipstick by Lancome I bought ages ago, but rarely wear because it moves on my lips like nobody business.
I have quite a collection of warm reds, but this one came the closest, despite still being a little too light.
