Did you know that less than a third of my readers are German? The majority comes from the UK and the US. That kind of puts me in a dilemma:
I have some brand new, sparkling things from pixi to share with you in todays video. But they are only new in Germany, the UK has had them for quite a while now.
So do I title this post: pixi new releases and risk people from the UK thinking it was a click bait? Or do I title it pixi new releases Germany, risking only a third of my readers will be remotely interested?
The difficulties of “having your target audience in mind”, always among the top three of those annoying “How to succeed in blogging” posts that never really seem to help. Wonder how I know? Because I click them every time. So much for “I only blog for the fun and don´t care about numbers” *cough*
Anyway, I decided to stick with New In from pixi as title. Should work well enough.
Do you remember the „Bag of Empties“ I showed you in a recent video? I have a similar one filled with new makeup goodies that I wanted to try on camera. It takes a lot of self-control not to just rip them open once I have them, but I really want to be more mindful about the things I own and use, so I made myself wait.
Until today: Time to dig into some fresh stuff. Live and on camera! KIKO is a brand I had on my mind quite some time already, and despite owning a few bits, I did not feel ready to form an opinion on the brand.
And we all know, having a proper opinion on a makeup brand is quite important.
pixi on the other hand is a brand that I have worked with before, and while I am excited by their skincare, the makeup I tried was nice, but not mind-blowing. And nice is never enough in this world of competitive makeup.
One of the important things you learn when you get older is: You can´t please everyone. And, more important, you should stop trying.
I admit it is not the easiest lesson learned, and sometimes the question: But why don´t they like me? still pops up in my head, but I have learned to be realistic about my expectations.
So if we learn to apply that to our personal life, why do we expect different from our skin care? Why do we buy a hyped product and expect to love it as much as everyone else does?
I mean, we do know that we all have different skins, different concerns and different needs, how on earth could one product be perfect for each and every one on this planet?
You see, I recommended pixi Glow Tonic to two fellow YouTubers, and while one was completely blown away, the other was a little disappointed. She found the product to be nice, but not mind-blowing, which she had expected.
I get both of them, and I will go into detail why I should have anticipated that later, but first let´s take a closer look at pixi Glow Tonic.
After rewatching my „New In“-videos, I was confronted with the question when on earth I should feature all the products I had shown you on the blog. I mean, I still have products from a haul in September 2015 that haven’t been mentioned, and miraculously new stuff keeps appearing in my drawers.
So I turned to You Tube for inspiration: Should I do „Follow up“-videos? Just keep doing hauls, relying on the fact that no one would remember what I had shoved in their face anyway?
But then I came across another type of video: „First Impressions“. You basically just sit there, talk and apply makeup. What is not to love?
