Doctor Duve Boosting Face Cream – How do you want to age?

How do you want to age? Smart! Now that is a slogan that is right up my street.

Quite frankly, I don’t really like the term anti-aging.

I do enjoy aging. Not the fact that I get wrinkly, saggy and that it takes me three days to recover from one night out. But the fact that I get to spend another day amongst my loved ones, and the fact that I grow wiser (Is this too bold a claim?) and more forgiving against myself and others. Even though my husband may disagree on the latter.

Doctor Duve Boosting Face Cream

Like someone once said: The only way to prevent aging is to die young.

So yes, I do want to age. But I want to age smart. And by smart I don’t mean not showing any signs of aging. By smart I mean looking the best I possibly can, adapted at my skins needs. And those needs have changed quite a bit over the last years.

When at first I looked at the Doctor Duve Boosting Face Cream (*PR-Sample), I had in mind to hand it over to my mother. But one cold winter later I was happily slathering it on my own face.

Doctor Duve Boosting Face Cream

What Doctor Duve claims:

This intense cream smoothes, firms and regenerates mature, demanding and sensitive skin with hyaluronic acid. The unique combination with Growth Factors increases collagen production, tightens your connective tissue and boosts (as in fills) fine lines, achieving a smoother and more even complexion. Neuro-cosmetic ingredients sooth irritation and strengthens the skin against environmental damage. Your skin feels firmer and tighter while looking young, fresh and radiant.

Facts:

Prize and size

One pot contains 50 ml and retails for 145 € on the website here. Again, that is a lot of money, but a little of the cream goes a long way.

Texture and smell

The dreaded jar packaging, lovely to look at, but not my first choice when it comes to hygienic aspects and keeping ingredients fresh. No doubt, it looks lush on my bathroom shelf, but I prefer non-pot packaging, especially at the price.

The scent is sweet and floral, not overpowering, but still noticeable and only in part down to the sweet almond oil. Mostly it is down to fragrance.

Application and effects

Light upon application the cream sinks in very quickly and is suitable for use both morning and night. I personally don´t need much, so I use it in the evenings, but it did sit well under makeup. If your skin is extremely dry this might not be enough for you, but it is very hydrating without feeling heavy on the skin.

Favorable ingredients:

A majority of this cream is made up from lovely oils (jojoba, macadamia and sweet almond) to help moisturize, some glycerin and hyaluronic acid for hydration and a bunch of antioxidants to help you with, well, aging smart. Regarding the Growth Factors now, made from plant stem cells, science is still undecided. Growth Factors do stimulate collagen production and the building of new, strong cells. It is however unclear how well human skin reacts to Growth Factors made from plants. As a rule of thumb, human skin reacts best to human hormones.

Unfavorable Ingredients:

Alcohol and fragrance, both in the middle of the ingredient list. Now I personally don’t mind fragrance, but I am not too keen on the alcohol. I know it is supposed to help the ingredients penetrate easier, but it is drying as well.

Does it live up to its claims?

In parts.

It contains hydrating, firming and collagen production enhancing ingredients. But I have yet to find out if “Neuro-cosmetic” is doing anything for me, and while my face looks smooth and plump when I use it I am not sure if that is down to Growth Factors or just down to the fact that this really hydrating.

Would I repurchase?

No.

I am not one to spend much money on a moisturizer in general, and if I do I will for sure opt for a product that comes in different packaging. Plus the fragrance and the alcohol do put me off.

Who do I recommend it to?

If you need a lightweight and hydrating cream, this one is worth checking out.

If you want Growth Factors in your skincare, this cream is a great option and, believe it or not, quite reasonably priced. Growth Factors are expensive in production.

If you want a cream that feels great and looks lush, this one is a good option.

But if you are on a budget, do look elsewhere.
