Face of Filming – My foundation and brow routine.

When I started making videos, I had no idea how different my makeup would look on camera as opposed to real life.

Face of filming - Foundation and brow routine

Of course I had heard people mention it, but as always you only ever really believe the things you experience yourself. So after a lot of trial and error, all documented on camera of course, I finally have settled for a routine I am content with.

So if you want to know how much product I wear when I try to look natural for the camera, here is the video for you.

Don’t forget to watch on You Tube and in HD for the ultimate viewing experience.

  • I hadn’t thought before about the ’natural‘ makeup routines of those who do vlogging, but of course the bright lights and such mean you’ll have to adjust your routine. Very interesting! It was fun to watch your process by the way, for some reason it’s quite relaxing watching people put on makeup?! haha 🙂

    • Is it? I feel the same way, but I thought that was just part of my addiction.

  • i really like this sort of natural makeup look. i have a set makeup routine for everyday which involves some base – foundation or cc cream, eyeliner and lipstick. oh and brows of course. since i do it every single day i’m pretty slap dash about it now. i think i should change things up a bit because i’m getting bored haha

    • I try to change my routine on a weekly, to avoid getting bored, but lately I haven’t. Of course this is way more makeup than I would wear everyday, but you need quite a lot for filming.

      • i really want to do that too but when i find something that works for me i’m a bit scared to change it. yes i agree, even for photos sometimes i feel like my normal everyday makeup doesnt really cut the mustard

        • I keep some products up with me and the rest in a separate place and usually I exchange the lipstick or some eyeshadows or the blush every Sunday, in preparation of the week. That really helps.

          • i want to start doing that too!

  • A great post, always great to hear how you transform your face before you film. The Bobbi Brown brand really works very nicely on you, one I haven’t tried before.

Really want to try ABH cosmetics, a brand I hear so much about yet haven’t tried.

    • These are the only two items I own from ABH, but so far I haven’t been disappointed.

  • I’m so odd with my own brows. I’d be so nervous for anyone to see me do them. Good for you for being brave and recording this! Btw how am I just noticing all of the orchids behind you?! They are my favorite! <3

    • They are my favorite as well. Probably because they are the only plants I can keep alive, mainly by ignoring them most of the time.

  • They always say to „pat pat“ the blender but I am too bored to do that!
I loved it! So natural looking!

    • It doesn’t take very long. I get annoyed by a brush, because most of the times you have to go back in to correct brush streaks. But on a daily I use my fingers.

Nice routine! The products look great! 🙂

  • I’ve never seen contouring blended in before so this was fascinating to me! 🙂 Your makeup looks great.

I tend to hide behind the camera in my videos although I’ve thought about getting my face in there now and then. I’ll need to look out my makeup first!

    • I would love to see you more in your videos. And you already pose for the blog so it shouldn’t be too hard.

      • Easier to hide my awkwardness more in photos than video 😉

        • I feel you. Looking back at my first videos makes me cringe. But hey, practice makes perfect.

  • I usually apply a little more base and blush when I know I’m going to be on camera. Thanks for sharing your routine with us.

  • ‚A very helpful rundown! I literally loled when you explained Mr. Loca’s assumptions about your jaw contouring.

Bobbi Brown corrector seems to be very good! I always need concealers – correctors for under eye circles, although lately I have slept quite a lot (anaemia tires me…) and so the circles got better. Nevertheless I would love to try the product. I normally wear a darker foundation on my cheeks, to look like blush. I also would like to try the Anastasia cream contour kit. Your makeup looks very good!

    • I never thought of using a darker foundation as a blush, I usually just go for a pretty neutral blush.
