Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment – Pickup lines

Back in the days when I was still going out, I had my fair share of bad pickup lines. You see, being blonde, tall and obviously loving makeup, I attracted a certain kind of men. Men that usually didn’t expect me to have more interest in politics than handbags. Men that thought: “Hello Sexy!” was actually a great way to start a conversation. (Disclaimer: It isn’t!)

Well, these days are long gone. If I was to go out right now, I would be much more likely offered a chair than a drink, let alone be the target of a pickup line of any quality.

So I was reminded of old times when I opened my pot of the Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment and the signature “Hello Sexy!” greeted me.

What Glam Glow claims:

This formula was clinically developed by GLAMGLOW® dermatological chemists to help fight all common skin concerns including breakouts, discoloration, black and white heads, razor bumps, and in-grown hair. Powerful, skin-clearing mud visibly draws out dirt and congestion while a proprietary six-acid blend dramatically brightens and softens skin. It works to draw out dirt and pores with Activated-X Charcoal, leaving skin smooth and healthy-looking.

Facts:

Prize and size

One pot retails for 69$ on the website or at Sephora. German readers may find it at Douglas online for 49,99 €. The jar contains 30g of product.

Texture and smell

Looking black and grainy, the mask feels heavier and wet when spread on the skin. The grains inside don’t scratch the skin upon application, the smell is charcoal with a hint of mint, but very subtle.

Application and effects

After application, the mask dries down pretty quickly, tightening a lot in the process and actually feeling quite uncomfortable on my skin. The instructions tell you to leave it on 5 – 20 minutes, but I have to say that I never managed more than ten. After drying down it is crumbling off your face when you speak.

I did see a purifying and brightening effect when using the mask, but it left my (usually combination oily and insensitive skin) feeling tight, dehydrated and sore.

  • Glycolic Acid: AHA, resurfacing, improves collagen

Does it live up to its claims?

Yes.

It is brimming with ingredients designed to brighten skin, resurface the texture and fight blemishes. My skin looks smother after application. It looks irritated and dehydrated as well, but smoother nonetheless.

Will I rebuy?

No.

Even though the ingredient list is impressive, it is not what my skin needs, and it took me some time to find a way of application that actually worked for me (If you are curious about that, stay tuned for my May Favorites next week).

Who do I recommend it to?

If you have oily, acne prone skin, this one contains many ingredients to help.

If you prefer applying your acids once a week and with full power instead of several times with less intensity, it might be just what you are looking for.

But if your skin is sensitive or dehydrated, I think this treatment is too intense.
