Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser – In love with Aloe vera

Shortly after we moved in together, Mr. Loca and I got into a major fight. Now I should probably mention that we do fight quite often (a fact he blames on me being stubborn and I blame on him for falling in love with a willful woman), but that was one of the major ones.

To be honest, I don’t even remember what caused it, but I remember it ending with slamming doors and me shouting: “And you never even got me flowers once!” Mature, I know, especially considering the fact that I don’t really care about flowers.

When he returned, he had bought me a plant. Thick, serrated green leaves with teeth on the margin and no flowers to be expected. Aloe vera.

It is one of the few plants that I actually kept alive throughout the years, and one that will always hold a special place in my heart. Which is why whenever I read “Aloe vera” on a product, it touches a soft spot in an instant.

The latest one? Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser with Aloe vera.

What Alpha-H claims

This hydrating non-foaming creamy cleansing lotion is perfect for normal, dry and sensitive skin types. Its 3-in-1 function means that it completely removes all traces of make-up (including waterproof mascara) as well as toning and re-balancing the skin’s natural pH level. Containing Aloe Vera to condition and soothe, Vitamin E to hydrate and neutralise free radicals, this cleanser will leave the skin perfectly cleansed, soft and soothed without the tight drying effect of many cleansers.

Facts:

One bottle contains 200 ml and can be purchased at 30€ on the Alpha-H website or at 25 GBP on Cult Beauty. I used a trial size containing 30 ml around five times a week in the evenings and it lasted me three months, so the full size should last you about six to nine months, depending on how often you use it.

The product itself is a cream more than a lotion, with no distinctive smell. Application feels very smooth and pleasant, and it is easy to take off with a wash cloth.

I mostly used it as second cleanse, not as a makeup remover, but for reviews sake tried it a couple of times with a full face of makeup. While it did get rid of the majority of product, it wasn´t enough to remove waterproof mascara or really heavy-duty products.

Favorable Ingredients:

– Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract: Antiinflammatory, soothing

– Ethylhexyl Palmitate: Moisturizing

– Gylcerin: Moisturizing

– Sorbitan Stearate: Cleansing

– Tocopheryl Acetate: Vitamin E, antioxydant

Unfavorable Ingredients:

– Parfum

Does it live up to its claims?

Almost.

It leaves my skin feeling clean, moisturized and soothed, while not being drying in the slightest. It does struggle with waterproof mascara though.

Would I rebuy?

Probably not.

But this is mainly because I feel such a soothing product is wasted on my skin. It would be the one thing I reach for after an intense facial or a whole day on the slopes, harsh winds and sun included, but in my life right now these things don’t happen very often.

Who so I recommend it to?

If your skin is sensitive, prone to redness and or irritated, I can see this be perfect for you.

If your skin is dry and tight now winter has come, this might be your savior.

Anyone tried this before?

And do you get flowers from your significant other?
