Inspired By … Dior Tie Dye Summer 2015

If you are not familiar with the „Inspired by…“ series, click here for an explanation.
But short story even shorter, each month I choose a seasonal ad and try to recreate the models look with colors I already own.
Dressing up and awkward posing included!

And for May 2015 it is the Dior Tie Dye Summer 2015 Collection

Dior Tie Dye Summer 2015 Collection

This installment of „Inspired by…“ is very special to me, because the beautiful and talented Agata from Her and Makeup agreed to do a collaboration with me.
So head over to her blog and check out how she interpreted this look!

I can tell you, it sure feels strange posing in front of a camera bare chested with an umbrella…

I lacked the pretty umbrella, so I went for a rainbow colored one

The main focus in this look are the pretty, colorful eyes, so lets look at a close up of the eye makeup.

Close up of the eye makeup. Should have put more effort in blending…

To recreate this look I used a neutral but sparkly shadow all over my lid and lined my upper water line with MACs gel liner in „Midnight Blues“, a beautiful blue color. On top of that gel liner, I added teal eyeshadow in the tear duct and a shimmery green eyeshadow on the inner third of my upper lash line.
In the outer V went some brown eyeshadow and a dark peach tone gave warmth and definition to the crease.
I couldn’t tell exactly from the promo picture, but the model seemed to have some warmer shade on her lid, too.
Several coats of mascara and a (barely noticeable) line of golden eyeshadow on my lower lash line completed the eyes.

Products used on my eyes:
– MACs eyeshadow in „Sand and Sun“ (matte): a dark peach
– MAC eyeshadow in „Flip“ (frost): a warm gold
– MAC eyeshadow in „Shimmer Moss“(frost): a teal with golden sheen
– MAC eyeshadow in „Swimming“(frost): a green with golden shimmer
– MAC gel eyeliner in „Midnight Blues“: a teal tinged dark blue
– Artdeco Ultra Effect Mascara in black (Review here)

MAC eyeshadows starting left, going clockwise: „Sand and Sun“, „Flip“, „Shimmer Moss“, „Swimming“; MAC gel eyeliner in „Midnight Blues“; Artdeco Utra Effect Mascara

I kept the face simple, as the model has gorgeous and even skin, but not too much contouring or highlighting going on. She just has perfect cheekbones by herself *sigh*.
Some concealing, a Tinted moisturizer, a little contour under my cheekbone with MACs „Harmony“ (I need more help in that department than she does) and a pretty pinky-coral blush were all I wore.

Products used on my face:
– MAC Pro Conceal and Correct Palette in Light (Review here)
– Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector in Light (Review here)
– MAC „Harmony“ blush for contouring
– MAC „Instant Chic“ blush on my cheeks

Clockwise: MAC Pro Conceal and Correct Palette in Light, Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector, MAC „Harmony“, MAC „Instant Chic“

The lips were a beautiful coral tinted peach, looking glossy and juicy. I colored mine in with a coral pencil and applied an opaque peach gloss on top.
As close as I can get without surgery I guess…

Products used on my lips:
– MAC lip pencil in „Mouth Off“
– MAC Pro Longwear Lipglass in „Persistent Peach“

MAC Pro Longwear Lipglass in „Persistent Peach“, MAC Lip Pencil in „Mouth Off“

Quite a fun summer look, don’t you think?
I am sure I will wear it again, but pair it with a top and loose that umbrella…

Are you into as much into teal and peach as I am this summer?
And have you checked out Agatas look yet? If not, head over to Her and Makeup now!

  • Thank you for allowing me to collaborate on this post with you! I had a lot of fun recreating this look and it's interesting to see our different takes on it. I still think our looks are pretty close 😉

  • Brilliant! Must check out Agata's look too. Does your husband think you're mad recreating these beauty looks?? Mine sure does! I guess it goes with the blogging territory..

  • Wow, you look beautiful! Teal is a great color on you, it really makes your eyes pop. Even the lips are on point and so similar to the model 🙂

  • They do look similar in the picture, despite us using different colors in different places. I guess that shows that all our hard work in choosing different colors and blending them is just for us, no one else is going to notice.
    Thank you for joining me!

  • My husband thinks I am mad regarding anything beauty and blog related, these looks are no exception. He never understood why anyone could want to own more than one lipstick in the first place, and owning several shades of red or teal is totally beyond him.Does your husband support you in taking pictures for example?

  • Thank you. It is so much fun! And I am glad Agata joined me. She has great makeup skills, so she would totally take this to the next level. Seeing her makeup is always inspiring.

  • My hubby thinks I'm nuts and I do still hide purchases in the boot of the car – "oh this old thing?? I've had it ages" 🙂 he's very supportive though x

  • Yay, another awesome interpretation of a campaign look! Well done 🙂

  • I used to wear this color bak when I was 15. I wouldn't have thought I´d get back into it.

  • Thank you, it was really fun.

  • Thank you, Jenny, this means a lot to me. Agatas look is even more beautiful.

  • Thank you. Do you wear colored liners?

  • Thank you, Shireen. These looks are great fun, and I am so glad Agata agreed on doing a collaboration.
Which one is your preferred liner? These vibrant colors are hard to get right formulawise.

  • I am surprised how much I love teal on my eyes. Growing up in the 80ies, I figured I would never ever wear anything blue or teal on my lids.
Do you remember these baby blues, sparkly shadows everyone was sporting back then, paired with hot pink lips and a heavy contour?

  • Lucky for me, my husband couldn't tell two lipsticks apart, so if he isn't with me when I buy something, he´ll never notice it is new.
But I use his camera and equipment for taking my pictures and he taught me a lot about photography, so he supports me in his own ways, too.

  • Thank you. You appreciating honestly means a lot to me.

  • Thank you girls! Anne, I think you're overestimating my makeup skills though 😛

  • Once again, thank you!!! Maybe for fall or winter we can collaborate again! 🙂 But I don't want to be stealing your ideas since the series is your own!

And I agree, our looks still look alike, yet different in a unique way!

  • I don't own an idea, I´d love for people to get inspired by the things I do. Nowadays, everything has been there before.
Maybe we could make this a seasonal thing?

  • Well, if everyone tells you they are exceptional, you better start believing it.

  • I love the look, especially the green and blue on your eyes. Such pretty colours. I have a teal eyeliner thatI'll have to wear more this spring/summer.

  • Oh that's great – so he's a photographer. Very handy for a blogger!

  • No, he isn't, at least not professional. But it´s his hobby.

great post! i love the look and you look lovely 🙂

  • I rediscovered wearing teal this spring, too. Somehow the warmer weather makes me crave more color.

  • Thank you. Do you wear colored eyeliner?

  • Kiki Rampone

This is such a cool idea for a series! I love the MAC liner you used too. You did such a great recreating that picture! Great post!

    xo Kiki

  • Haha, I love your picture!
You actually made me realize how the model's arm and hand look fake in Dior's promo photo. It almost looks like they were drawn and added into the picture.

  • Wow! What a beautiful photoshoot! The makeup really looks beautiful! What a great series!

  • Hahaha you totally nailed it!!! I actually really like the eyes in this promo image. Gold and teal work so beautifully together!

  • Allure Obsessed

Your eye makeup looks amazing!! xx

  • Good shot with the umbrella 😀 I like the colors on your eyes! The colors look really great together.. not too much either!

  • Pretty wearable, hm? I wouldn't have thought so, but they are.

  • Thank you, I really liked how it turned out.

  • I was happy Agata chose this one, it is such a pretty and actually wearable look.

  • It i great fun. Do you wear teal liner?

  • I think it is just a different kind of pose. If you check Agatas look, it is much more similar to the promo picture, and I am positive she didn't draw her shoulder on.

  • Thank you. I have to remember to use it more often.
Do you wear teal on your eyes?

  • When I was a teen, blue and green were all I used to wear, and it looked pretty horrible. This time, it is different, I really like it, but I tend to wear black most of the time.

  • I wish I'd kept track of trends. I will look this up on the internet 🙂

  • Jamie RS

yeah sometimes I do, it depends on the occasion. I wear colored eyeliners when i'm going to a girls night out 🙂

  • Maireem Maneje

Love this post. The eye makeup looks fabulous on you 🙂

  • Color is where the fun is!

  • Well, if you are looking for an overview for this season, I may kindly point you in the direction of my blogpost on makeup trends a few weeks ago…

  • *SQUEALS* I love it! I almost broke my neck when I made an attempt to imitate the model. I told myself, "Is that even possible?" hahaha

The Midnight Blues is a combination of two colors? Or you put an eyeshadow on top of it? It's so nice!

  • HELP i can't find Midnight Blues on MAC's website!

  • Thank you.

  • It was Limited edition, I am afraid, I have owned it for quite some time now. Sorry!

  • I put an eyeshadow on top of into get the color to pop even more.

  • Isa

  • Janelly L

No almost never but I like your subtle way of doing so!

  • I pretty much stick to brown and black but I have this amazing gold one by KIKO… I'd love to get a blue liner too!

  • What color are your eyes?

  • Thank you.

  • Blue. What do you recommend I try for a coloured liner?

  • Gold is great, blue can be tricky. But there are no rules. If you want to be adventurous, try orange! That should make your eyes pop.

  • That would be so fun! I'll look into it.

  • Jaa

And now I'm inspired by you! 😀 I really like the look. Fun, simple, and polished. <3

  • Thank you so much.

  • Very cute makeup and beautiful photos! I also need to try a green eyeliner. Indeed, it looks so summery and fun!
