Inspired by Tom Ford Soleil Color Summer 2016

If you are not familiar with the „Inspired by…“ series, click here for an explanation.
But short story even shorter, each month I choose a seasonal ad and try to recreate the models look with colors I already own.
Dressing up and awkward posing included!

For the last summer ad 2016 I wanted a really bronzey, warm look. Hard to achieve when you look like Caspar the friendly ghost in real life, but we only grow through challenge, am I right?

Tom Ford Soleil Color Summer 2016 is what I chose: Bronzed, dewy skin, warm colors… Perfection.

And yes, I am aware that the other promo picture includes a male model as well, looking pretty gorgeous and nude, but I just couldn’t get Mr. Loca to pose with me.

Next time.

Don’t forget to watch in HD and on You Tube for the ultimate viewing pleasure!

  • I think this is my favorite on to date!

    • It is so close to my favorite summer look. With a lot less highlighter though.

  • Gorgeous look, even though, it is a little bit too glowy for me, I believe this kind of extreme glow is only flattering on pictures, in real life, as you said, it appears more on the sweaty side of things! The Body Shop bronzer is beautiful!

    • If I had someone around that would constantly powder the areas that aren’t supposed to be shiny, I would probably like it more, but with my skin being more on the oily side I try to keep the highlight to certain areas.
And yes, the TBS bronzer is great. And it is very natural, as you can see. Even though I did dust it all over my face it didn’t look too orange.

  • It’s a great sun kiss make up look 🙂

I love this type of look for summer! It really suits you – especially the gold eye makeup. x

  • Very pretty. Gold eyes and bronzed skin always looks great in the summer! I have been using just a bronzer recently instead of contouring my face and I really like it.

  • Bronze colors and summer really go hand in hand. I want to play around with some this summer.

  • I’m such a fan of this golden eye on you. So summer ready.
    http://themakeuptrain.com

    • Now only the weather has to play nice and get summery over here.

  • Being very fair and more cool toned, bronze can look really odd on me. If it’s got a cool brown base or a pink base, it’s easier to pull off.

    • I can imagine that. Do you have a go-to color for summer?

      • Yes, Stila Kitten but I use it all year. It’s not cool toned but it manages to look pretty good.

        • I have heard so much about this eyeshadow, it seems to be a cult product.

  • Such a gorgeous look for summer! I can’t wait to recreate it!

    XoXo,

  • You got the makeup pretty spot on! I’m very pale as well, so it was interesting to see you create the bronzed skin. You look amazing!

    • I would have used self-tanner, but I am currently testing a few products against hyper pigmentation and that would have altered the outcome, so I had to try and do it that way. Do you ever use self-tanner?

      • I have a gradual self tanner (it’s more like moisturiser with a hint of tan), but I only use it on my legs, which are considerably paler than the rest of me.

        • Even paler? Wow. I am so bad at tanning my body, it is just so much hassle.

  • What a great look. I was tempted to try bronzer last year but my makeup skills are not the best so I decided to skip it.

    • Go for a subtle one like the one I am using here, that way nothing can go wrong.

  • This makeup is indeed perfection! Bronze shades and glowy skin are going to be huge trends for this summer I’m sure. I love how you did you skin, adding touches of highlight with the Shimmer Brick instantly changes the whole look 🙂

    • Touches of highlight? I feel like I dumped my whole face into that compact… But thank you, I love bronze eyes for summer.

  • First of all, you have my respect for your ability to pose for that sexy, sultry look in front of Mr. Loca. I would have died of awkwardness. Haha! You did a great job recreating this look and it’s one that I can recreate too, I meant your version. This look is very me without the sexy look so it’s interesting to see if I pull it off.

ps: I adore your sense of humour in this video! Why do we live so far apart? We would have a brilliant time chatting about everything especially anything beauty related if we live closer. xx

    Shireen | Reflection of Sanity

    • Well, we had a good laugh, but if I can´t pose sexy and sultry in front of my husband, when can I? Please share picture if you recreate it, sultry pose or not.

And yes, I have thought so numerous times. I would love to be able to stop by and just chat about beauty, toddlers and ignorant spouses! But Canada is on my travel list, so whenever I go there, I will try to schedule a detour to your place for a visit.

  • You are so beautiful! I’m so jealous that your husband takes such wonderful photos of you. My husband… not so much. Hah! 🙂

    • You should have seen the 50 pictures I had to go through to find that one. And the argument we had: Don’t take the picture from that angle, I will have a double chin. – But you HAVE a double chin right now!
Usually I take my pictures myself, but that one was too hard.

  • I have thin lips and I’ve always envied people with full lips like the model, damn genetics! Except the lip colour, you nailed this look. Bronze eye makeup is my go-to makeup for summer and I can do with that much highlighter I guess, since my oily t-zone makes it look like I apply so much highlighter 🙂

  • You look super pretty with that golden bronze makeup on! Love the posing too 🙂 x

    Mummy’s Beauty Corner

    • The posing is so ridiculous, I don’t know how models do it.

  • You completely hit the nail on the head with this look Anne, everything looks just like the models, I love the bronzy eyshadow you’ve got going one. Have a lovely Weekend ♥

    • You too! Do you wear similar colors? I think they´d suit you very much.

  • Love the eye make up in this look Anne, can’t wait to watch the video later this evening. Have a great weekend,

    • You too, Gemma. I hope the weather was nicer at yours than it was here.

  • Love the eyeshadow in both your video and the original ad 🙂

I agree too, looking bronzed and sunkissed would be wonderful as it would mean a very enjoyable time spent in the sun! 🙂

    Away From The Blue Blog

    • If only. It has been raining pretty much non-stop for the last six weeks.

      • Oh not a nice summer at all for you! Hope it improves soon. How are you managing to keep your daughter occupied if she can’t go outside? Must be tough for you with your baby too!

        • We go outside anyway, all dresses in rain safe clothing, to hop into the puddles and get covered in mud. The baby comes along in the wrap and we all drink hot tea afterwards.

          • Smart idea! Toddler T loves puddles, I need to get him rainboots!

What wrap do you use? Do you feed in it? I went to an expo on the weekend and booked in to have a babywearing expert (I think there’s some kind of certification?) come over and help me try on and pick out a new carrier or wrap, as I’m finding it too fiddly trying to feed in my Ergo. I still feel too exposed in public and think I’m doing something wrong. I’m using nipple shields this time which doesn’t feel very discreet!

          • I have fed in the wrap, but usually I don’t bother, I take him out for feedings. To be honest, I don’t care about the exposure, but I am rarely in public for feeding times. Not sure how long I am going to keep breastfeeding though, I already have to supplement quite a lot with formula and Peanut isn´t very patient with me and my boobs anymore.

          • You’ve done well breastfeeding so long, it isn’t the easiest thing in the world! We had to supplement with toddler T, but this time around I’ve got an over supply! I’d love to be able to get feeding in the carrier perfected as on unsettled days he feeds every 2 hours 🙁 Not ideal when you have a toddler.

          • My problem is that I need to pump to keep supply up, but feed, bottle feed and then pump with two children? Not happening.

          • Oh wow you’re a saint to have kept that up for any length of time! I had under supply with my first and the feeding, pumping and washing cycle drove me crazy and I only had the one baby to contend with! Had so little sleep the first few months!

          • I really wanted to go the first three month, until the vaccination started, or ideal until I started introducing solids after four months. I am not sure if I will reach the four month goal though, i am so fed up with it.

          • 3 months is an incredible achievement, seriously! Especially with a toddler too. No matter how long you manage it’s something you should be proud of! I used a resource from the ABA that tells you for each stage what the benefits of breastfeeding are, so I had my goal and when I decided to pack it in and go to formula exclusively I could look back on all the milestones I’d hit and the benefits I’d given. It was helpful to see even a little makes a difference 🙂 You do what’s best for you and your family, you’re doing great 🙂

          • Thank you so much, Mica. I was a little bummed that it was so hard again, I had secretly hoped that the second time would come easier. Oh well, I am better at popping them out than I am at feeding them I guess.

          • babies don’t like to make it too easy, haha!

  • I love that you do these, you always look gorgeous!

    • Thank you, Lily. It helps get out my comfort zone with makeup, like wearing highlighter.

  • idu

This is another hit for sure. It’s a lovely look. I just realized I don’t do bronzy eyes nearly enough.

  • Kay (shoesandglitter)

Ohhh, this is definitely my kind of look!! I love, love love bronze eyes, and I’ve been taking notes of the products you’ve used, because the shades are absolutely gorgeous and right up my alley. 🙂 <3 That Clinique chubby stick looks amazing, I've been avoiding Clinique products for so long but perhaps it's time to get back into them… x x Loving this series sooo much! 🙂 x

    • Why have you been avoiding them? I like the Chubby products a lot, but there are drugstore alternatives out there that work just as good, at least the bronze shades.

  • Dewy skin and warm colours are always a great combo, especially for photoshoots. Love your interpretation.

    xx Bash |   go say   H E Y   B A S H

    • Thank you, Bash. I dot feel like that much highlight is wearable outside a shoot though.

  • I always have a ‚yay‘ moment when you have those series!! I loved the video – funny commenting as always!
This make up looks pretty good on you and the lipstick too! I would love to see a smokey-eye tutorial!!

  • This look is very pretty and summery on you. I really like the lip color – I have a lot of Clinique Chubby Sticks but I don’t own Oversize Orange, now I’m tempted to get it!

    Beaumiroir

    • It is pretty sheer, but that seems to be on trend this summer. Which Chubby Stick out of the ones you own is your favorite?

  • What a fabulous inspiration!! I love it and how your look turned out. You are giving me bronzed summer vibes over here!

    • I hope the weather is playing along at your place. Here it has been raining for six weeks straight.

  • You did such a great job. I love your lipstick!

  • Do you wear a lot of bronze come summer?

  • Great job, Linda! I always look forward to these posts!
