Resveratrol Premium Essence of Youth – Do you like wine?

Did I tell you that my father owns a vineyard in the South of France? I know I did on Instagram, but I am not sure I mentioned it here. He has been into wine for as long as I can remember, collecting precious bottles, tasting different grapes and finally venturing into production himself.

Now I don’t like wine.

At all.

I don’t drink it. I know nothing about soils and grapes and stuff. I don’t even like the smell.

I was a huge disappointment to my father.

Resveratrol Premium Essence of Youth Serum
Resveratrol Premium Essence of Youth Serum

Until I found the one thing that can get me all excited about wine. Or the grapes at least.

The skincare benefits of course!

Resveratrol in particular. And against common belief in the blogosphere, there is more than the one brand everybody automatically thinks of when it comes to this antioxidant gem.

Let me introduce you to M. Asams Resveratrol Essence of Youth serum*.

What M. Asam claims:

This serum with valuable resveratrol, paracress extract and vitamin E helps your skin to protect itself from negative environmental influences. Enriched with precious oils like grape seed oil, organ oil and apricot kernel oil it leaves your skin feeling velvety soft. For a younger looking complexion.

Facts:

Size and price:

One bottle contains 50 ml and retails for 29,50 ml here.

Packaging:

A convenient pump that disperses exactly the right amount of product (one pump for my face and neck), housed in a see-through plastic container with golden details. To be honest, I prefer the sleek black and white design, but it hold up well when traveling.

Texture and scent:

A very light, slightly sweet scent that isn’t noticeable once applied and a lightweight, easy to distribute texture. My skin feels fresh and hydrated after application and the serum sinks in quick enough to work great under makeup. It isn’t white, but has a faint peachy tint that will by no means be color correcting, but might add a little radiance to otherwise dull skin.

A slight peachy tint, barely noticeable when applied.
A slight peachy tint, barely noticeable when applied.

Favorable ingredients:

  • Grape Seed Oil/Extract: Antioxydant, rich in linoleic acid, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory
  • Glycerin: Moisturizing
  • Apricot Kernel Oil: Antioxydant, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory
  • Squalane: Moisturizing, occurs in skin naturally
  • Shea Butter: Moisturizing
  • Spilanthes Acmella Flower Extract: Firming, stimulating collagen production
  • Argan Oil: Moisturizing, antioxydant

Unfavorable Ingredients:

  • Alcohol (among the last five ingredients, so not much)
  • Fragrance
  • Preservatives

Does it live up to its claims?

Yes.

It is jam-packed with antioxidants, defending the skin against environmental damage. It is moisturizing, leading to a younger looking appearance and my skin feels very soft after using it.

Will I rebuy?

Yes.

I love the ingredient list, the feel on my skin and the fact that despite containing oils it is so light weight I can easily use it in the mornings.

Who do I recommend it to?

If you want to protect your skin from free radicals and keep it moisturized throughout the day, that one is for you.

If your skin is combination oily, but still in need of moisture, this one will be perfect for your morning routine.

Only the very dry skinned people out there will probably need a richer formula to keep them satisfied.

Now did it help me bond with my father? Luckily we have so much more to talk about than wine and skin care, it wasn’t really necessary. But I passed a sample to my mother, who is really enjoying it so far.

Do you like wine?

And have you heard about that product before?

    NEW POST ON MY BLOG

  • I didn’t even know the brand, but this serum sounds great!

    http://fannyanddailybeauty.com

    • I didn´t either until I read about that serum, but I am curious to try some more. Their body butters are amazing as well, I just finished the Macaron scented one right in time to move on to more spring appropriate scents.

      • Oh, that sounds lovely and quite unique!

        • I have a mandarin scented one I just cracked open the other day, and it smells lovely for spring.

  • I’m with you there Anne, I’m not a great Wine drinker, I just don’t like the taste, I find it quite bitter actually lol. I can’t say that I’ve heard of this brand but this product seems really good, I love that its packed with antioxidants:) Have a lovely week ♥

    tipscapsule.blogspot.com

    • Antioxidants are so important throughout the day to prevent from premature ageing.

  • This sounds great! Even with the little bit of alcohol in there!

    • I would have preferred it without, but seeing it is that way down the ingredient list I think it can be overlooked.

  • i need to get this! i love reservatrol in products. this sounds like a winner. i find that fascinating about your father! i only like sweet wines. too dry and yuck for me.

    • He actually produces a very sweet wine, a so called dessert wine, similar to Port. It is called Banyuls and is very rich and sweet.

  • It sounds like a great product! Of course I’ve tried another brand who uses grapes for most of their products and so far I haven’t been that impressed.
I do like wine(specially if it comes with bubbles)! I’d say is the only alcoholic beverage I like. I HATE beer (yes, all capitals kind of HATE), and I never go for anything stronger because I have a delicate stomach. I’m not a specialist but I can appreciate a good wine!

    • I haven’t been that impressed with said other brand as well, I just don’t get the hype.
Alcohol in general int something I go for. I opt for the occasional bubbly to celebrate, but other than that? I prefer Diet Coke (horrible habit, I know).

      • I also occasionally drink Coca Cola zero And it’s been long since I opened I nice bottle of Malbec, mainly because I’m still breastfeeding !

        • That is the great thing if you don’t drink anyway. You won’t miss a thing when pregnant or breastfeeding. I missed sushi a lot, but that is about it.

  • Thank you.

  • I love going to vineyards and tastings! The product seems nice but probably not suitable for my skin type and potentially hard to get.

    Advaita | Blush Canvas

    • I guess it isn’t the easiest to get, but I would offer a swap if anything stood out to you. Just to put that out there for the future, not for this one in particular.

  • That’s a really interesting ingredient list, there seems to be all kinds of different things in there. Good things, of course! It sounds like a good product as whole, I hadn’t heard of even the brand before, haha 🙂 I do enjoy wine, though I don’t drink often or a lot. There are just so many different tastes! 🙂

    Erin
    http://sexycardi.blogspot.ca

    • I don’t think the brand is very well known internationally, which is a shame as I really enjoy everything I have tried so far.

  • I’m not a wine fan either but my husband makes up for it! 😉

This seems very good value because most serums only contain 30ml. I’d only heard of Resveratrol before in a Caudalie product but have yet to try anything containing it. This sounds great!

I love, love, love your reviews xx

    Beautylymin

    • My husband enjoys wine as well, so at least he and my father would bond over that topic pretty quickly.
Anything from Caudalie I have tried so far wasn’t really convincing, so I don’t understand why this is the brand that automatically pops up when someone mentions Resveratrol.

  • That’s a really good price considering it comes in 50mL, I’ll need to check where and how I can get it here in Canada. And yes, I am a wine and beer drinker but I’m not a fan of hard liquors. And tequila…how can I forget tequila, now that’s the good stuff. LOL!

    Shireen | Reflection of Sanity

    • Tequila, hm? I am no fan of alcohol in general, I just don’t like the taste (and loosing control, if I am completely honest), I just drink the occasional bubbly for celebrations.
My husband is a great whiskey connoisseur, so I guess I have a thing for men that enjoy alcohol. The plus side is that everyone likes to go out with me, because I am always sober and can drive home…

      • Haha! I started drinking because I was a bartender for roughly 3 months and the tips were really good when you drink a couple with the customers. The only thing I hate is gin, I can’t even think or hear the word without feeling nauseous.Gin = Worst hangover in my life

I can’t take champagne, it’s too frizzy and the taste is not quite my cup of tea. I mean I will drink a glass if someone offers me but I will never pick it up myself.

        • When I was 18, I´d claim I´d only drink champagne. Which wasn’t true, but I figured it made me sound grown-up and interesting, when it more likely sounded like I was a spoiled brat.

  • vineyard in south of france… that just sounds SO romantic. haha can’t believe you don’t enjoy wine though!

    theleeday.com

  • This seems like a fair price, and I’ll have to check into this product. I love wine (and certain beers), even though my parents never really drink it much, but my brother and I are big vino lovers. I had to go to wine school for a job I had years ago and learnt more about it then. I don’t drink much at all, but wine we do keep in the house, especially for entertaining with friends.
    Spring Sportswear

    • I am surrounded by wine loving people, and I don’t mind anyone drinking, I just don’t enjoy it myself. Any kind of alcohol is wasted on me, but that means I am always the driver after going out.

  • I’m the same-I don’t like wine at all. I can’t get past the smell.

  • thefashionsalt

I’d love it if my father owned a vineyard. I’d be there everyday helping to „taste“ the wine. And I’ve heard of resveratrol, but for some reason thought you had to ingest it for it’s benefits. This serum sounds interesting, though I would probably need something more moisturizing.
    ~Lili
    http://www.thefashionsalt.com

    • Well, like all these ingredients it isn’t really proven that slapping them on has the same benefits as ingesting them, but at the same time it is better to apply the things to the areas whereto need them. If you just swallow it and the body distributes it itself I am not sure how much will actually get to your face. The perfect way remains still to be found. I don’t think you can go wrong with doing both.

  • I thought you’d be a wine person since your dad has a wine yard! I’m a wine person and I love tasting different ones, Bordeaux is one of my favourite. I’ve seen this brand around, however I haven’t checked it out. This serum has really promising ingredients.

    Ela BellaWorld

    • My husband is, so that kind of makes up for it, I guess. I have tried some of their body butters as well and love them, both for effect and for smell.

  • Dressed With Soul

    http://www.dressedwithsoul.com

  • My mom loves wine too, and she and my dad used to talk about owning a vineyard after retiring, but then he passed away 🙁 I like some wine but I am not crazy about it. And yes, I do know about the many health benefits that come with it. This sounds like this would be an awesome serum. I love serums because they are so soothing and pack so much nutrients. I will check this out or something similar!

    Hannah
    http://floraful.blogspot.com

    • So sorry to hear about your dad. It sometimes is best not to wait until you retire, as you never know what is going to happen. And one person on its own can hardly take on all the work that comes with it.

Serums are my favorite skincare item as well, I really enjoy using them for the reasons you mentioned, which is funny, because a few years ago they scared me, simply because they were so packed with good stuff.

  • Do I like wine? Yes! Especially red, in fact I’m having a glass right now, haha! The serum sounds really nice and it’s not crazy expensive, will definitely save it for future reference. x

    Mummy’s Beauty Corner

    • The serum is great value for money. And yes, I estimated you like wine from your: A glass of red and a catchup on my favorite blogs“-Tweets. I really like the thought of a glass of wine in the evening, but it is Diet Coke for me. Not nearly as healthy, I am afraid…

      • Not that wine is very healthy, haha! But out of the two we can find some benefits in a small glass of red 😉 x

  • It sounds incredible! Such a good product and quite affordable too. And in fact, I don’t like wine very much too. Especially the smell of it.

    -Leta | The Nerdy Me

  • I love wine, I haven’t used that particular one. Tell your dad he can adopt me, I’m all up for winemaking and have done so in the past. In California though. I know how to burp a barrel. Very important quality to consider before adopting ;p

    • I will pass on your details and qualifications then! Luckily my second sister filled the void and is as enthusiastic as he is, so not all hope is lost.

  • Your opening paragraphs are always fantastic: „I was always a disappoint to my father – let’s talk about this skincare product!“ Haha! This is why I love your blog. Your sense of humour is great.

Now that is a great review – and let’s face it, each review of yours is amazing, hon! I always enjoy reading your posts (and that’s why, like I mentioned to you before, I feel awful for not being able to read more frequently – I am working on it now!) 🙂 Love the personal example you add into the mix. • Denise

I love your stories, and no, I am sure you are not a disappointment to your father – OK, just in the wine area 🙂 I can drink some wine, but I don’t like drinking very much. I spent the whole 2015 without a single alcohol drop, and that is normal to me. Guess what, so a friend gave me some wine in March and I was really wasted with half a glass, of course 🙂 I did think of that one brand when you wrote about resveratrol, I guess everybody did, like you said. I didn’t know this brand now and as you said it is good, I want to try it! The price is also good!
    DenisesPlanet.com

    • Yes, I cant drink a lot either, I am wasted very quickly, which is why I barely drink ever.
But the serum really is a recommendation.

  • That’s cool that your father owns a vineyard in the South of France! Hey it’s not just you. I’m not much into wine either since I don’t really like alcohol in general but I do believe in the powers of resveratrol as a beauty ingredient. I once used a Caudalie cream with it that I really liked. This serum sounds really lovely.

    • I haven’t found anything Caudalie I have liked so far, which was a huge disappointment as they are so hyped. Which cream did you use?

  • Actually I only started appreciating wine way into my 20s. I was exposed to wine very early (there’s always wine on the dinner table in France… for lunch too actually) but I didn’t like it at all until at least 20. Then I started enjoying whites, and slowly I developed a taste for reds. Now I love a good Burgundy or Côtes du Rhône!

    Beaumiroir

    • I thought it would grow on me with age as well, but it somehow never happened. Wine is really everywhere in France, and of great quality even when affordable most of the time.

  • I myself don’t actually enjoy wine as I feel the bitter taste in the end ahahha.
It’s very cool that your father owned a vineyard.

I never tried this serum but for me serum actually works great.
Pus the fact that is it argan oil.

    Have a great day!

    Away From The Blue Blog

    • I like it a lot, and I much prefer the grapes that way. Not a big fan of grape juice either. I like grapes though. Do you drink alcohol in general?

      • Not a big drinker in general no. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to have a drink as well, with the babies and pregnancy, haha! I used to have the odd cocktail now and then but mostly alcohol free.

        • Taste better and are cheaper. I go for alcohol-free cocktails as well.
