Now this is, of course, no seasonal ad. But I had to prefilm due to the baby arriving, and the lovely Kay from „Shoes and Glitter“ had requested a tutorial on this look, so I figured it would be the perfect choice.

Read on for a picture and the list of products I used.

Year after year, the spring collections are the most challenging for me to recreate, simply because I don’t feel like pastel colors suit me and I only own a few of them. So when I tried to recreate the Givenchy La Revelation Originelle Spring 2016 look, I had to start mixing!

And here is the finished result… Read more

This months installment is the Dior Glowing Gardens Collection, which stood out to me due to the fact that the model was wearing yellow eyeshadow, paired with purple.

To be honest, I didn’t own a yellow eyeshadow and don’t think it is a color I´d get much use out of, but with „Fasching“ (carnival) in Germany in full swing when I filmed it, there were a lot of drugstore options available. And with an affordable yellow at hand, it was time to get filming!

This months choice was requested by my favorite Italian blogger Carol in a page, who suggested I´d do this one because „I already had the hair“ (original quote).

Now my hair may have a slight resemblance, but I did lack the wind machine, blue skies and the defined jaw line (I am 31 weeks pregnant after all), so please keep that in mind when looking at my attempt.

Looking for a New Years Eve Makeup? – Be inspired!

It has been more than a year now that I have been doing the „Inspired by…“ series, a monthly feature where I try to recreate the look from a seasonal ad, using products I already own.

And while I was browsing my pictures, I realized that most of them are pretty outgoing and party appropriate, so I figured: What better way to recap these posts than today?

A sparkly purple eye? Or something else?

Maybe you will find something that will inspire you when going out tonight. If so, please drink some Champagne for yours truly, sitting at home with a gigantic bump and water to celebrate.

As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to recreate the „Giorgio Armani Luxe is More“ makeup in December. It may not be the most exotic look I have ever seen, but everything about it seems very glamorous and very „me“.

Velvet skin, a soft smokey eye and a deep red lip… perfect for Christmas!

Let´s see if I succeeded to come close, given my less than modelesque features and the lack of Photopshop… Read more

Chanel Rouge Noir Absolument 2015 Collection

This time the Chanel Rouge Noir Absolument 2015 ad had tickled my fancy. Such a pretty and glamorous makeup!
The purple shadow, the glossy lip, the dark nails and the perfect matte skin. I can totally see me wearing this to a New Years Eve party, sipping champagne while ringing in next year in style!

But without a makeup artists help, would I even come close?
Let´s see! Read more

NARS X Steven Klein Collection for Holiday 2015

Up until a few days ago I was determined to recreate the Smashbox „Art, Love, Color“ look, which is very unusual and colorful, but when the first pictures of the NARS X Steven Klein Collection flooded my feed, I had a change of mind.
The pictures were impressive, totally different and a pleasure to look at.
Yes, all of them. I mean, look at that one!

Too bad I didn’t have a flower crown to match, but I managed to get a headpiece with net at least. Read more

Dior Cosmopolite Fall Winter 2015/16

When I was researching upcoming trends for a blogpost (going online September 30th in case you were wondering), I couldn’t help but notice how bold and graphic (black) eyeliner is going to be. Bold in an unwearable way, at least for me on an everyday basis, but tempting nonetheless.
So when I first spotted the promo pictures of Dior´s Cosmopolite Collection, I knew I had to do the look!

Please excuse the missing hand, I need one for the camera remote…

Dior Cosmopolite Fall/Winter 2015/16 Collection recreated

Despite looking that dramatic, the look was actually quite easy to do.

Products used for base and lips

1. Products used for base and lips
The artist wanted to create a „soft, luminous complexion“, so a lighter base, in this case the „Clinique Age Defense BB Cream“ was applied. It provides decent coverage, but is pretty dewy at the same time (Review will be up in two weeks).
Wherever I needed a little extra coverage, I used Maybellines „The Eraser“, which I recently picked up. No powder, to keep the skin dewy and just a little bit of MAC „Harmony“ powder blush to define the face shape.
My lips are pretty pigmented on their own, so I erased their color with the BB cream and used the Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in 842 „Rosewood Pearl“ to bring back that hint of pinky nude the model has.

2. Products used for my eyes
Now the eyes are certainly the main focus of the look. Despite the bold, graphic placement (pretty much all over the lid) the color is what stood out to me the most. It isn’t black, but a very deep, midnight blue, a color I knew I didn’t own.
To recreate it I used the NYX Jumbo Pencil in 601 „Black Bean“ all over my lid and set it with the dark blue shade (bottom left in the quad above) from a Clarins eyeshadow quad my mother kindly lend me. I rarely ever wear blue, so my options would have been pretty limited otherwise. The quad is called „Eye Quartet Mineral Palette Long-Lasting in 04 Indigo“ and that is as much information as I am able to provide.
A thin black line with my trusted L´Oréal Superliner in „Carbon Gloss“ (Review here) and several coatings of Revlons Photoready 3D Volume Mascara in „Black“ (Review here) and the eyes were done.

Honorable mention goes to my nail polish, a metallic blue by OPI of which I own a mini size and have absolutely no clue what the name is.

In conclusion: I am happy I tried this look, but I will stick to a more subtle eye makeup throughout next season. The color though, something I´d never thought would suit me, is gorgeous and I will most likely wear a more subtle smokey eye with it soon.

How about you:

Inspired by … Chanel Les Automnales Fall 2015

This months installment is based on Chanels Fall 2015 Collection, featuring a gorgeous brown smokey eye. It is also a collaboration, as Lulle from Beaumiroir kindly agreed to recreate the same look. And who better to pay tribute to Chanel then a French born and raised beauty blogger?

Chanel Les Automnales Fall 2015 Collection

Now I own quite a lot of browns, so that shouldn’t have been a problem. That shadow though… That was hard work.

Again I was surprised by how many color harsh lighting swallows, and I can only imagine how heavy the models ,makeup must have looked in person…

My take on the makeup.

1. Makeup used on my face
To achieve the radiant finish and the crisp line I used the lightest shades of my MAC Conceal and Correct Palette (Review here) in Light and used MAC Matchmaster foundation in 1.5 (Review here). No powder, although looking back I should probably have used some, as the models skin is more of a velvet finish then a dewy one.

2. Makeup used on my eyes and lips
To intensify the shadows, I primed my lid with MACs Shadestick in „Relaxed“ (LE 2009) and put the „Lid“ color of the Revlon Eyeshadow Palette in „Impressionist“ (Review here) all over the lid and the „Crease“ color in the crease, in the inner corner of my eye and underneath the eye.
A thin line of MAC fluid line in „Avenue“ on my lash line and a heavy coating of Revlon 3D Photoready Mascara (Review here) on the lashes.
For my lips I chose L´Oréal Color Riche Elixier in „Nude Vibrato“, too peachy to match the models color, but I don’t own this kind of brown nude as they wash me out.

Now I have to say I love brown smokey eyes, a trend I embrace every fall, but I would go less winged out .
