March Favorites 2017 – New beginnings

If you remember my last Favorites post (read here if you missed it), you know I promised change. And change there is, but if it was for better or worse, only time and you, dear readers, can tell. Or should it be “Dear Watchers”, given it is a You Tube video? Are you the watchers on the Wall, sworn to defend humankind from boring and repetitive content? And can you tell I am really looking forward to the last season of Game of Thrones airing soon?

March 2017 Favorites

But wait, I am not really sure if I am looking forward to that. Game of Thrones, I mean. You see, I do look forward to watching it, but I am not looking forward to it being the last season. Does that make any sense?

Alas, the blog post seems to go the same way as the video did in terms of lacking structure. Editing made me realize I was all over the place, mixing favorites with disappointing products and personal stuff with seasonal things. It will improve with time. At least that is what I tell myself.

Inspired by… Makeup Factory Sahara Sunset Summer 2015

If you are not familiar with the „Inspired by…“ series, click here for an explanation.
But short story even shorter, each month I choose a seasonal ad and try to recreate the models look with colors I already own.
Dressing up and awkward posing included!

This month I channelled my inner gypsy and decided to go with Makeup Factory’s Sahara Sunset  promo picture.

Of course, I am majorly lacking in the bronze department…

What drew me in were the eyes. The colors themselves are not exceptional, but the bold placement, brought in right to the inner corner of the eye, is quite unique and definitely not my everyday placement.

I promise I am not frowning… It´s the eyeshadow!

And I guess it should stay that way.
In order to match the models look, I had to bring my eyebrows inwards a little more, using a pencil, and that paired with the eyeshadow in the inner part of the lid makes me look like I am frowning…

Here is a close up of the eyes. The liner on the lower lash line, brought down quite far, gives the look the bohemian feel.

How I did the eyes:
After I penciled in my brows, I used MAC „Crosscultural“ e/s around the outer corner and on my upper and lower lash line for some definition. On top, in my crease and right into the inner part of my lid went MAC „Saffron“, a beautiful orange-brown shade. I blended it out using MAC „Bamboo“ and added some MAC „Tissue Weight“ as inner corner and brow bone highlight.
Some black Khol on my upper water line for tightlining and loads of Artdecos Ultra Effect Mascara (Review here) finished the eyes.

How I did the base:
I used my MACs Pro Conceal and Correct Palette (Review here) for sculpting my face and blended everything out with Laura Merciers Oil-free Tinted Moisturizer (Review here).

Then I went back in with golden-bronze „Garb“ by MAC, applied my The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in 02 (Review here) with a very heavy hand and dusted MAC Beauty Powder in „Shell Pearl“ over the high points of my face to highlight.

How I did the lips:
After lining my lips with Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Khol Liner in „Bare“ I applied Cliniques Chubby Stick in „Mega Melon“ all over the lip, topping it up with Cliniques Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 01 for that rose, glossy sheen.

Taking the pictures in artificial lighting helped a lot with the bronze, during daylight I looked a lot paler…

My final verdict:
I will stay clear from dark shadow on the inner part of my lid from now on. But I will remember to use Saffron come summer. These burnt-orange shades really make green eyes pop!

What do you think?
Do you bring your shadow that far in?
