Taking out the trash VI – June 2016 Empties

Empties and watermelon – is there anything else you need for a chilled summer evening? I don’t think so.

This months version features a lot of Antipodes products, which brings back memories of our road trip to New Zealand. And of course turns up the ancient question:

Why does everything always have to run out at the same time?

  • I love the sound of how hydrating the MAC foundation is on my skin – I’m currently loving Teinte Miracle by Lancome thanks to that same quality.

    • It isn’t something I look for in a foundation usually, but it sure feels nice when your skin is more on the dry side.

  • Great vid, have tried the mascara and liked it for a natural everyday one. Face oil sounded nice too. Gemma x

  • I take the sponge off the eraser concealer, but hey if it wasn’t your fave, then there are plenty of others! glad to hear your thoughts on the Antipodes brand

  • I like the lipstick you’re wearing! I have an unopened Maybelline concealer sitting around. I just have too many concealers in use at the moment so I’m saving it for later. But yes, the thought of using that sponge after a couple of uses isn’t pleasant!

    Advaita | Blush Canvas

    • I think you have to try it at least once as a blogger, it is such a hyped product. But for me, that one time was enough.

  • I want that Alpha H liquid gold. Sounds great. Plus I love that bit about the watermelon in the beginning! haha!

  • Wow, amazing list of products. I love this Maybelline lipstick and Clinique High Impact mascara.

  • I like Maybelline concealer, however I am not happy with the applicator as well, it is not hygienic! I even thought about washing it. but not the smartest idea!

    Ela BellaWorld

  • I really like the Maybelline age rewind concealer but yes, the sponge applicator gets gross pretty quick! I’m interested in the Antipodes products!

  • Not only does everything run out at the same time, it runs out exactly when you need it! Lol.

    • Can´ t vouch for that, I still have so much stuff to go through, it will be a long time until I actually really need something.

  • The sponge applicator is awful to use after a few times, wish it was just a dofer!

I love empties videos, I think they’re more interesting that favourites sometimes. Thanks for sharing x

    • I agree. People really have an opinion if they have used something to the end.

  • Great video! I don’t think I’ve ever finished a foundation!

    • I am about to finish a few that were sitting in my drawer for the longest time.

  • Maybe if you cut up the watermelon into bite size cubes, it will cuter to eat. Bite size foods are always more dainty ;p I keep hearing good things about that Maybelline Eraser but that yucky sponge applicator has deterred me from trying it. At least your mom liked it.

    • I guess that would have worked. But I feel like there is no fun in doing that.

  • I may have said this before but the body shop makes the best body butters! 🙂

I think you’re right about watermelon too – it’s tasty but oh so messy! Even when we leave the skin on to give toddler T a ‚handle‘ he manages to get it everywhere!

    Away From The Blue Blog

    • I only ever feed watermelon to my daughter when we are outside, preferably when she is in her little pool anyway.

      • Great idea! 🙂 Toddler T loves his watermelon so we end up just embracing and expecting the mess. We go through a lot of bibs when he’s having a watermelon phase! Right now his favourite is strawberries, not quite as messy! 🙂

  • Loved watching this video! =)

  • Hahaha, you’re eating watermelon in your video, I’m eating chocolate 🙂 The Antipodes oil sounds nice. Didn’t realize it was all natural. And ugh, yeah, I hate that applicator on the Maybelline concealer, grooooooss.

    • I have one up on Sunday where I eat sweets, much more realistic, to be honest.
Antipodes is all natural and 99% organic, at least that is what they claim on the packaging. I wonder what the 1 % is.

Great video, I feel like everything runs out at the same time too!
    Have a lovely weekend 🙂

  • Cutting it up and using a fork really doesn’t sound like much fun.
Have you tried special hydrating products? I think while drinking water is good, it will not help with really dehydrated skin.

  • Kay (shoesandglitter)

Ohhh, I remember reading your review of that Clinique mascara few months back!! x Also, I’ve been meaning to try a foundation by MAC… I’m on a little bit of a foundation craze at the moment haha, so I’ve been trying lots of things but mostly drugstore. I actually have a lovely little parcel sitting next to me with a few foundations to try… But I’m a bit behind on MAC, I need to get into their products more (especially those lippies!). Hope you’re well, hun! 🙂 <3 Kisses. x x

    • MAC was my first love, but if I am completely honest, none of their foundations have ever made it into my firm favorites. That doesn’t stop me from trying the new launches anyway though. But I adore their lipsticks and eyeshadows!

  • I’ll be watching this later for sure!! 🙂

    • Oh, thank you! I enjoy filming them, but there is still much room to grow. Oh well, one step at a time.

  • idu

I love your honest review of that alpha H exfolient. And there is no cute way to eat watermelon, lol. Renting a camper for 2 months sounds like great fun. New Zealand is beautiful.

By the way I love a matte foundation as well. Recently switched from Mac to Nars all day lum. and loving it.

      • It was an amazing time. Not as romantic as we would have hoped it would be, because sharing a camper with a one year old puts a limit to romantic events, but it was amazing for us as a family.

  • I’m also very close to finishing a Shea Body Butter from The Body Shop! OK it’s a travel-size, but still, it will be an achievement, lol!

    Beaumiroir

    • I go through them a lot, but I am very good at moisturizing my body.

  • i hate nothing more than running out of foundations. its the worst and i recently ran out of two. so bad.

    • They are quite expensive to replace. Which ones did you finish?

  • Love these posts of yours! The Shea Body Butter is a lovely one, a favorite for sure! Xx

  • Some great picks here! I feel sad when I run out of my favourite product especially mascaras for example and foundations!

  • I definitely agree that everything runs out at the same time 😀 Not sure how that’s possible… I am so bummed we don’t have the body shop… Those body butters seem heavenly and everyone is talking about them… x

    BeautyPepTalk

    • Do you have Alverde? If so, try the Macadamia butter, it is a pretty close dupe for a fraction of the price. Same scent, same moisturizing, just a little less easily absorbed.

      • Oh, really? We do, I’ll definitely check it out 🙂 Thank you x

  • Unfortunately, I haven’t tried any of these but maybe give one of a try!
