Three looks – Orange lips

Each season has a makeup trend that interests me and is challenging at the same time. And instead of staying inside my comfort zone, I try my hardest to make it work.

For me and for different occasions.

The summer challenge I faced was bright orange lips, and after a lot of not so presentable looks I finally came up with three I actually enjoyed wearing.

Here they are, just in case you should need some inspiration!

To be completely honest: I haven’t worn the last one a lot, but I wanted to include something for my color loving friends out there. And the 80s are going to be back, no matter how hard I try to ignore that.

    • None of the many shades? That is a pity, it is a great pick me up in summer.

      • No and I can’t wear orange clothing/scarves etc – it just makes me look ill so matter how many ways I try it. I admire it on others and especially in clothes in autumn – that burnt orange that is very seasonal but every time I buy something I end up returning it! xx

        • That is too bad. I bought a cardigan in this color last fall and I am looking forward to wearing it again.

  • I love a good orange lip! I love the first and second look, I’m not a huge fan of colourful eyes, but I like the combo with the orange lips!

    • I usually wear bronzey eyes and a bold lip, not too much color on my eyes. But it is fun every now and again.

  • Wow! I think I haven’t worn an orange lipstick yet, but it sure looks good on you!! 🙂 Hope to hear from you soon! x

  • My favourite look has to be the second one: I love a bold lip! Orange is a colour that I don’t wear at all but always wanted to try in the summer. It can be hard to find the right shade to suit the skintone, so I’m still looking. The third look is really fun, although I’m not a fan of the 80s either haha.

    • It was fun to do, but I never really liked blue eyeshadow, so it will not become a staple in my routine. But the orange lips really grew on me.

  • Orange and red are your colours, I only wear them occasionally! Love how edgy you look in the last one, but my favourite is the second one, it is perfect night out makeup!

    • I would never have thought that, I was wearing neutral lips for the biggest part of my makeup life. But these days, orange and red and lately even fuchsia are in my everyday rotation.

  • Love all 3 looks on you

  • Orange is tough for me with my cool coloring. I have a Blood Orange Lip Butter from Pacifica that is perfect for summer. Very sheer color wise. The other is a balm stain from Revlon. It’s not actually orange in the tube but turns very orange-y on my lips. It’s a very brightening lip color even though it’s a soft shade. It’s really hard to describe! Every other orange I’ve tried before is too bright, garish, or warm so those are my go to shades.

    • I think orange is a color that really depends on your coloring, just like pink. I hardly find any pink that truly suits me, so I feel your struggle.

  • I only wore orange lips once this summer! Shame on me! You prove it’s so much fun! haha I mean, we still have a little summer left, right? (;

    • It is 35 °C today, so yes, there is still summer left. Fall will start at September 21th, and not a day earlier for me.

  • I really like the subtlety of the first look. Orange is a really nice shade for summer. It’s a color that I stay away from because my lips are quite full and I don’t like wearing any colors that will draw attention to them.

    • I can understand that. My lips are quite thin, so I thought for the longest time I couldn’t wear bright colors on them, but these days I don’t mind.

  • I’ve never tried orange lips – although that first shade is lovely and looks so wearable. The last one I’d find much to tricky to pull off! I’m so unadventurous with makeup.

    • The first look is for people that don’t wear much makeup. The last look is for makeup adventurers. I guess my comfort zone is look 2, right in the middle.

I love this trend, especially for summer!
    Have a lovely weekend 🙂

  • I have only tried one good orange lipstick. Although, it’s not really my typical colour to wear, I did like stepping outside of the norm, but I usually wear berry and red shades. The first shade here is lovely.
    FASHION TALES

    • The first one is very easy to pull off, which is why I like it for everyday. Lip colors are such a personal choice, most of us have one that they come back to over and over again.

  • That third look is so retro but gorgeous! Even though super colorful looks typically aren’t your thing, I think it really suits you.

    • Retro is the new trend, at least that is what it feels like. I did enjoy look three more than I thought I would, but it is nothing for everyday.

  • My favourite look is definitely the first one featuring an overall softer appearance – what a lovely look!

The shadow in your outer V really pops. I love the intensity. I bet you didn’t miss winging your liner. I couldn’t pull off orange lips to save my life. All three looks are amazing on you. Hard to pick a favorite, :).

    • Well, Nr. 3 is way out of my comfort zone, so you won’t see me in that very often.

  • Tiffany Tales

Love this, I always struggle to style orange lips.. especially being a red head! Thanks for sharing x

    • I always envied redheads for their amazing hair, but I can see that it limits the shade selection. What lip colors do you gravitate to?

  • The third look is my favourite, actually! I love 80s-inspired fashion and makeup trends; it’s always so bright and playful.
    P. S. I don’t think I’ll be able to pull off orange lips as good as you, but I am curious to give it a try! Thanks so much for sharing and have a beautiful weekend:)

    • Bright and playful, yes, that sums up the 80s perfectly. I was a child back then, so I have seen it first hand. I guess I am a little traumatized still.

  • You look good in orange lips! I must admit, this is one trend I haven’t tried..

I am the biggest fan of orange lipsticks, and now that I’ve cut my hair MUCH shorter I always need a bold lip which means a hot pepper red or an orangey red 😉 xx adaatude.com
