Despite the fact that multi-tasking has quite a bad rep these days, mom life often forces me to rely on it. The secret to multitask effectively is in my opinion to combine a passive with an active act.
Like put on a face mask while you vacuum. Or, one of my favorite tips: Apply a thick layer of handcream underneath your rubber gloves when doing the dishes.
Trust me, that is as close to a manicure as I get these days.
But how about a product that claims to do it all? Like the pixi Rose Flash Balm*, proclaimed moisturizer, face mask and primer all in one?
It is makeup? Is it skincare? Let´s ask the ingredient list!

I know I go on and on about how I am not into hearts and glitter and unicorns. I don´t even really like the color pink.
But sometimes something comes along that you technically shouldn´t enjoy based on experience, but still you do.
That happened to me when this gorgeous pixi box arrived at my door step. And no, I didn´t just enjoy it because I got send it for free! Not going to lie, that surely helps, but despite the pink and the pastel and the roses… It is so pretty!
Maybe it is the tiny (fully functional!) lock with the even tinier key, maybe it is the words written inside about skincare and inner beauty, I don´t know.
But I just can´t seem to throw it out. Enough about the box though, you are certainly here to hear about what was inside?

I have to admit, I am a fickle person. And that is what has kept me from getting a tattoo so far.
See, I grew up in a time when having a tattoo was proof of time either served as marine or in jail, but things changed when I reached adolescence and suddenly they were everywhere.
Now most of my friends are tattooed, even Mr. Loca is, and I think it is a beautiful way of self-expression and an art.
I decided long ago that I would get a tattoo as well. I was sure of the motif, the placement, everything. But I didn´t have the money and decided to save up for it. While in the process of saving, I changed my mind. First on the placement, then on the motif, then on the placement again.
And that got me thinking. Can I really truly commit to one thing permanently etched into my skin?
Jury is still out on that, but it might be the reason why I judge every concealers coverage on its ability to potentially cover a tattoo. Could the pixi Pat Away Concealing base * do that? Let´s find out.

I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and bright…
Are you familiar with West Side Story? It is, I have to admit, one of the few musicals I care about. This and Lion King. Everything else, think Starlight Express or Cats, are totally lost on me.
But back to the song. I heard it when I was 13 and never was able to get it out of my mind. Not because it is a masterpiece in tune and lyrics (I wouldn´t be able to judge that anyway), but because the feeling it describes is one that I wanted for myself.
I want to dance the streets, pitying every girl that isn´t me. I want to feel so confident in my own skin that I shout from the rooftops how perfect I am.
Not that I have yet achieved it, which may be a good thing given my singing skills, but 13 or 38, the quest continues. And anything that reminds me of that song is very welcome.
Like the #pixipretties collection that landed at my doorstep recently.
Did you know that less than a third of my readers are German? The majority comes from the UK and the US. That kind of puts me in a dilemma:
I have some brand new, sparkling things from pixi to share with you in todays video. But they are only new in Germany, the UK has had them for quite a while now.
So do I title this post: pixi new releases and risk people from the UK thinking it was a click bait? Or do I title it pixi new releases Germany, risking only a third of my readers will be remotely interested?
The difficulties of “having your target audience in mind”, always among the top three of those annoying “How to succeed in blogging” posts that never really seem to help. Wonder how I know? Because I click them every time. So much for “I only blog for the fun and don´t care about numbers” *cough*
Anyway, I decided to stick with New In from pixi as title. Should work well enough.
Do you remember the “Bag of Empties” I showed you in a recent video? I have a similar one filled with new makeup goodies that I wanted to try on camera. It takes a lot of self-control not to just rip them open once I have them, but I really want to be more mindful about the things I own and use, so I made myself wait.
Until today: Time to dig into some fresh stuff. Live and on camera! KIKO is a brand I had on my mind quite some time already, and despite owning a few bits, I did not feel ready to form an opinion on the brand.
And we all know, having a proper opinion on a makeup brand is quite important.
pixi on the other hand is a brand that I have worked with before, and while I am excited by their skincare, the makeup I tried was nice, but not mind-blowing. And nice is never enough in this world of competitive makeup.
One of the important things you learn when you get older is: You can´t please everyone. And, more important, you should stop trying.
I admit it is not the easiest lesson learned, and sometimes the question: But why don´t they like me? still pops up in my head, but I have learned to be realistic about my expectations.
So if we learn to apply that to our personal life, why do we expect different from our skin care? Why do we buy a hyped product and expect to love it as much as everyone else does?
I mean, we do know that we all have different skins, different concerns and different needs, how on earth could one product be perfect for each and every one on this planet?
You see, I recommended pixi Glow Tonic to two fellow YouTubers, and while one was completely blown away, the other was a little disappointed. She found the product to be nice, but not mind-blowing, which she had expected.
I get both of them, and I will go into detail why I should have anticipated that later, but first let´s take a closer look at pixi Glow Tonic.
After rewatching my “New In”-videos, I was confronted with the question when on earth I should feature all the products I had shown you on the blog. I mean, I still have products from a haul in September 2015 that haven’t been mentioned, and miraculously new stuff keeps appearing in my drawers.
So I turned to You Tube for inspiration: Should I do “Follow up”-videos? Just keep doing hauls, relying on the fact that no one would remember what I had shoved in their face anyway?
But then I came across another type of video: “First Impressions”. You basically just sit there, talk and apply makeup. What is not to love?
So here you go: My first impressions on some bits and bobs of Pixi by petra makeup!
