A few weeks ago I watched a You Tube tutorial.
Shocking news, I know, but do hear me out!
The tutorial itself was nothing extraordinary, one of these you have playing in the background while doing boring chores like folding laundry. But she said something that actually made me pause, rewind and repeat.
She said, quote: “… going to just use mascara, as I was surprised to find out how many of you don’t wear false lashes on a daily basis.”
Now each to their own, but I´d be surprised to find out that many women would actually wear false lashes on a regular. A quick look around revealed… None.
We do rely on mascara that promises lashes looking as if they were fake. Like essence The False Lashes mascara extreme
What essence claims:
No limits! The conical shaped wand offers deep black color, dramatic volume and a false lash effect.
Prize and size
One tube contains 10 ml of product and retails for 2,75 € here.
Texture and smell
It is one of the wetter mascaras, and even over time didn’t dry down to a texture that I could comfortably work with.
Application and effects
My biggest issue with the mascara is the packaging. The opening is just so huge that way to much product stays on the brush, making it necessary to wipe down the brush with a tissue, otherwise it is clump heaven even with one coat.
After wiping it down though, I really like the effects. One coat gives me black, fanned out lashes with a nice amount of volume and some length. If I try to build it up though (or don’t wipe down the wand), it will instantly clump.
See for yourself:
Does it live up to its claims?
It is really black (and stays black over the course of the day) and offers volume. As for the false lash effect… I guess that depends on the false lashes you’d go for. It might mimic the appearance of very natural ones.
Would I repurchase?
You can’t beat the price, and the effect is really nice, but having to wipe down the brush EVERY SINGLE TIME is just way too much hassle for me. I rather pay more and don’t have to do this.
Who do I recommend it to?
Well, if you are on a tight budget this is a very nice mascara. It really depends on if you are put off by the fact you need to wipe down the brush or not.
Oh, and before you go: There is a brand new vlog up here that proves that at least I don´ t wear falsies on a daily…
