Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Concealer – Marks all over my face

As long as I can remember, I had marks on my face.

When I was a baby, I had seborrheic eczema on my cheeks for some time. Harmless, but not very pretty.

When I reached the age of eleven, the first spots made their appearance, and despite (or maybe because of) my frantic attempts to get rid of them, continued to expand from my forehead all over my face.

When I reached the age of twenty, I figured my skin would get better, but the joys of adolescence seamlessly blended in with upcoming adult acne. Less spots, but deep set, cystic ones that left hyper pigmentation and red marks when they finally went away.

These days I am pretty much at peace with my skin and my breakouts, but while I do my best to make the marks fade, that process takes time and patience. So I rely on concealer in the meantime. Preferably a concealer that blends seamlessly, doesn’t cake and stays in place all day.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Flawless Wear Concealer SPF 10 claims all that, so of course I had to give it a go.

What Estée Lauder claims:

Looks flawless. Lasts 15-hours. Feels comfortable, never dry. Stays seamless, without creasing.
The lightweight creme formula creates the perfected look of flawless skin and lasts all day. Transfer-resistant, color-true, with medium buildable coverage that won’t slip, slide or melt away. Luminous finish.

Infused with minerals and emollients to condition skin and make blending easy. Oil-free. Water, perspiration and humidity-resistant.

Facts:

One tub contains 7 ml (0.25 fl oz), which are available for 30€ here or for 24 $ on Sephora here. While you get a total of ten colors in the US, there are only three different ones in Germany, all of which are targeted at lighter skin tones.

The “precision applicator” is a doe foot applicator, suitable to apply straight to your face. For hygienic reasons I prefer to apply it to the back of my hand first and then either use my fingers or a brush from there.

Just like claimed above, it feels lightweight and comfortable and is blended in easily.

The coverage itself is actually medium to full and the finish very natural. For demonstration purposes I used a birthmark on the back of my hand.

I am not too pleased with the wear time though. It may be due to my skin type or due to the fact that I (unknowing) touch my face more often than I should, but I feel the need to reconceal my spots after an average of four hours (Setting powder used, but no primer.)

Does it live up to its claims?

Most of them.

It is comfortable, non-creasing, lightweight, seamless to blend and has a luminous finish. But it doesn’t even come near the claimed 15 hours of wear.

Will I rebuy?

Probably not.

Just to put it out there: I have never found a concealer that lasts a full working day on my face, so it is most likely my fault, but for 30€ I want everything. So my search will continue.

Who do I recommend it to?

I think this is perfect for people with dry skin or prone to creasing, and I can imagine it will last a lot longer on their skin.

As it doesn’t settle into fine lines or pores, it is also a great product for more mature skins.

Have you tried this before?

And when was the last time you were completely satisfied with your makeup-free skin?
