Favorite Face of November 2015

If you are not familiar with the “Favorite Face of …” series, click here for a little introduction. Short story even shorter, it is the makeup that I wore most during that month, featuring the favorite (as in most used) makeup products.

Favorite Face of November - a quick and easy everyday look.
Favorite Face of November – a quick and easy everyday look.

As many of you may know already, I am currently at home. But as I  stated here, I wore makeup almost every single day to get me into a “work mindset”. Granted, it was a quick and easy look skipping foundation most days, but it was all I needed to feel ready to be productive.

A subtle brown smokey eye with a hint of purple, flushed cheeks and a statement lip toned down, perfect for working from home as well as a quick grocery run.

I had my mind set on thoroughly testing out the Makeup Revolution London Redemption Palette Iconic 3, so it was all I reached for the last two months. And while I can say that without a doubt I am bored by now, I think I am well prepared for my upcoming review on the 20th. For todays look I applied the right shade (marked with the flat brush in the picture above) all over my lid and used the matte brown shade ( marked by the crease brush, obviously) in my crease.

As mentioned in last months favorites post I had some issues with the shadows going patchy that were related to the liquid eyeshadow I used underneath. After switching to my beloved MAC Paintpot in “Painterly” application was smooth, albeit still less pigmented than I would have wished for.

To add some purple I used MAC Fluidline in “Macroviolet” on the outer third of my lid for a subtle lift and finished the look with several coats of Clinique High Impact mascara in black (in depth review here).

Very simple and minimalistic.

Maybellines Instant Age Rewind Eraser in 01 “Light” (in-depth review here) to cover my dark circles and some redness around my nose, a quick dusting of Maybellines Mattemaker powder in 15 “Light Beige” (in-depth review here) all over my face and the Essence Cream to Powder blush in 02 “Floral Glam” (Guerilla Gardening LE years ago) worked into my cheeks. Perfect for a fresh but subtle flush of color.

Yes, I left my spots and scars just like they were, and yes, my daughter recently laid hands on the powder…

Believe it or not, the lipstick I am wearing is the same I wore last month, Manhattans X-treme last & shine in 54V. Only last month it looked like this:

Much more intense, no?
Much more intense, no?

I have received many comments of people telling me they were afraid to go for a really bold lip. I used to be, too, until I eased into it.

Dabbing on the lipstick lightly and blending it in with your fingers was a tip I read quite often, but on me it turned patchy or streaky more often than not. What worked best was applying a generous layer of lip balm (a thick one, like Nuxe Rêve de Miel pictured here) and then applying one swipe of the lipstick on top. Not patchy, but much sheerer. And moisturizing, which is always a bonus during the colder months!

There you go, my “working from home” makeup!

Do you wear makeup when you know you will be home all day?

And how did you ease into wearing bold lips?
