Inspired by … Dior Cosmopolite Collection F/W 2015/16

But short story even shorter, each month I choose a seasonal ad and try to recreate the models look with colors I already own.
Dressing up and awkward posing included!

Dior Cosmopolite Fall Winter 2015/16

When I was researching upcoming trends for a blogpost (going online September 30th in case you were wondering), I couldn’t help but notice how bold and graphic (black) eyeliner is going to be. Bold in an unwearable way, at least for me on an everyday basis, but tempting nonetheless.
So when I first spotted the promo pictures of Dior´s Cosmopolite Collection, I knew I had to do the look!

Please excuse the missing hand, I need one for the camera remote…

Despite looking that dramatic, the look was actually quite easy to do.

Products used for base and lips

1. Products used for base and lips
The artist wanted to create a “soft, luminous complexion”, so a lighter base, in this case the “Clinique Age Defense BB Cream” was applied. It provides decent coverage, but is pretty dewy at the same time (Review will be up in two weeks).
Wherever I needed a little extra coverage, I used Maybellines “The Eraser”, which I recently picked up. No powder, to keep the skin dewy and just a little bit of MAC “Harmony” powder blush to define the face shape.
My lips are pretty pigmented on their own, so I erased their color with the BB cream and used the Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in 842 “Rosewood Pearl” to bring back that hint of pinky nude the model has.

Products used on my eyes

2. Products used for my eyes
Now the eyes are certainly the main focus of the look. Despite the bold, graphic placement (pretty much all over the lid) the color is what stood out to me the most. It isn’t black, but a very deep, midnight blue, a color I knew I didn’t own.
To recreate it I used the NYX Jumbo Pencil in 601 “Black Bean” all over my lid and set it with the dark blue shade (bottom left in the quad above) from a Clarins eyeshadow quad my mother kindly lend me. I rarely ever wear blue, so my options would have been pretty limited otherwise. The quad is called “Eye Quartet Mineral Palette Long-Lasting in 04 Indigo” and that is as much information as I am able to provide.
A thin black line with my trusted L´Oréal Superliner in “Carbon Gloss” (Review here) and several coatings of Revlons Photoready 3D Volume Mascara in “Black” (Review here) and the eyes were done.

Honorable mention goes to my nail polish, a metallic blue by OPI of which I own a mini size and have absolutely no clue what the name is.

In conclusion: I am happy I tried this look, but I will stick to a more subtle eye makeup throughout next season. The color though, something I´d never thought would suit me, is gorgeous and I will most likely wear a more subtle smokey eye with it soon.

How about you:
Is this a makeup you would leave the house with?
And which trend get´s you excited the most?
