If you are wondering what this series is about click here for the introduction. But short story even shorter: Inma from “Sunshine&Glow” (a seasoned yoga lover) and I (a complete beginner) share our experiences with the 30 Days of Yoga Beginners Challenge of Lesley Fightmaster Yoga (here).
Last week was challenging for Inma, as she had a lot on her plate, but she made it through. Was it better this week? Click to find out!
Day 15
Anne
Day 15 already and I only now realized we are doing Sunsalutations… We used to do them before acting classes, many years ago. This time the flow comes much more natural, maybe because we were building them up so slowly. They are quite challenging, at least for my lack of upper body strength.

Day 16
Anne
Yesterday I was so euphoric, I felt like I was really seeing progress, getting into the whole yoga thing, but today is a struggle. I have no balance, no strength and it isn’t fun. I am tired and feel like stopping. If it weren’t for Inma, I would. So I practice and feel sorry for myself.

Day 17
Anne
Today is a short one, and to be honest it is the only thing that gets me to doing it. But today everything is great again. Short and sweet, it never rang truer than that.

Days 15, 16 & 17: Wow, today is a biggie! I had my yoga class on Wednesday but I couldn’t practice on Thursday so I am two days behind. I’m glad that day 17 is a bit shorter than the others because by the end of it I feel exhausted! Today I am working from home so I am able to practice in my living during lunch time.
Day 18
Anne
Eagles pose! I feel like a pro today, and I don’t even fall over. Or at least not often. We are working on our core as well, something that is dearly needed after having a baby. But I am not going to lie, Savasanah is still my favorite pose.

Day 19
Anne
I had heard of Warrior one and two, but not of Warrior three. I can´t count how many times I have to push pause and catch my breathing. Who knew Yoga could be so challenging? And these 30 days increased in intensity quite rapidly!

When Lesley announces it will be mostly Twists today, I mentally prepare for an easy session. How wrong I was! Holding the poses has me shaking and sweating, and my FitBit, who easily recorded my practice as sleep sometimes, tells me I have moved into cardio zone quite a few minutes.

It is Meditation today, and while the initial stretching goes well, the Meditation itself is doomed with my son babbling next to me. I attempt it again in the evening, when the kids are sleeping, but this time Mr. Loca makes fun of me and I get a good laugh, but no focus on my breathing.

I am spending 5 days in Spain, which include 2 days with no wifi. Before I set off it is my intention to do days 18 & 19 on Saturday and 20 & 21 on Sunday, but in the end, after a 3am start for a very early flight, I feel wiped out. On Sunday to friends from the UK join me in Spain, and my will power goes out of the window. I am really disappointed that I didn’t practice at all when I am in Spain. I know I should be easier on myself but I feel bad, and feel guilty that I am letting Anne down. But the week has gone now and my options are to continue to feel bad about it or to make a fresh start and actually continue for the last week of the challenge. I choose the second. I have had no routine pretty much since Easter and my wellbeing is suffering the consequences. I know that I can dedicate some time to yoga every day for the last week and I will feel so much better for it!
How has your week been, workout wise?
