New In Beauty February 2018

February is a weird month for me. On one hand it is filled with birthday celebrations (read here), on the other hand it is a transitional month at it´s worst.

Lots of people complained about January dragging on, but at least January is proper winter! I get comfort from hot chocolate, warm blankets and dark lips, all the things that make winter worthwile. Once February arrives though, I get spring fever.

I want warm sun on my face, I want to loose the layers and I want light and airy makeup. But outside there is freezing cold, and, judging by the last few weeks, grey clouds and snow drizzle.

So no new makeup purchases, at least no spring makeup purchases, but new skincare. From shopping my stash mostly, but that is shopping after all!

There you go, my New In Beauty February 2018 video. I will list all the products mentioned below, but wanted to give the eyeliners some extra attention, as they will most likely not get a dedictated post elsewhere.

Catrice Glam & Doll Super Black Liner Waterproof (3,95 € here)

This eyeliner is vegan, ultra black and claims to be waterproof, but what drew me in was the tip. As you can see in the picture below, it is shaped like an arrow and meant to “stamp” a little wing on each eye to achieve an even flick without fail. And, really, that works. It gives you a kitten flick, maybe a medium one if you really press hard, but as long as you are no Amy Winehouse lookalike that should be perfect for everyday.

And while I did not shower to see if the waterproof claims are true, it did stay put for a workday and only faded a little after 12+ hours and me rubbing my eyes. That does of course mean you will need a good eye makeup remover in the evenings.

I will, however, not repurchase. Now, a little over six weeks of using it, it is already starting to dry out. Application isn´t as smooth as it used to be, the stamped on wing can look a little patchy and it takes a lot of shaking and pressing to get it to work. (Yes, of course did I store it with the cap tightly closed and upside down!)

That might not be a deal breaker for you if you exchange your eyeliner after two months anyway due to sanitary reasons, but I think I will stick to my trusted L´Oréal Super liner Ultra Precision Liner.

L´Oréal Superliner Ultra Precision Liner (5,95 € here)

I will not go into too much detail, as I reviewed that liner in depth in this blog post (click) already, but for comparison reasons a few short words: It is black, waterproof and easy to handle, even if there is no stamping involved. The 2 € price difference are for me more than worth it as this is my third or fourth repurchase and one tube lasts me at least five months without drying out. And as I change my eyeliner (and mascara) much less frequent than the recommended three months, I end up saving money.
