In Germany there is a saying that indicates the impossibility of getting a reaction from someone. Roughly translated it means: “Like pinching an ox in the horn.”
I often think about this saying when I try to get a reaction from my husband regarding new lipsticks, nail polish choices or truly anything makeup related. In fact I was sure that no matter what I´d do, he´d always look at me and say: “Whatever.”
Turns out I was wrong! The pixi Glow O2 Oxygen mask * did provoke an immediate reaction:
I applied it, left the bath room and ran into Mr. Loca. He, used to my beauty shenanigans, looked at me in disbelief, shook his head and said: “Now you have completely lost your mind.”
Not the effect I was going for, I admit, but at least an instant reaction from a man that usually grunts when asked his opinion.
But which other effects did the pixi Glow O2 Oxygen mask * provide?
What pixi claims
This oxygen treatment mask revives dull, tired skin, providing an immediate anti-fatigue effect –perfect before a big event or makeup application.

Prize and size
One pump contains 50 ml (1.69 fl. Oz) and retails for 24 $ here. It is hard to tell how long it will last you as the container is completely opaque.
Texture and smell
When pumped out, you have a clear gel that, upon massaging it onto the skin, starts to bubble and foam up. It has a light scent, fresh, and it is slightly sticky but easy to spread.
Application and effects
Of course the application is the main event with this mask: When massaged onto dry skin the gel turns into white foam. You can hear sizzling noises, similar to the ones you hear when opening a bottle of coke and feel an ever so slightly tingling sensation. Be careful though not to massage over the already foamed up parts, that will make the bubbles burst. It took me several attempts to finally get the “my face is completely covered in foam” effect I was aiming for.
I am happy to report though that on top of the immediate reaction from Mr. Loca I did notice my skin looking bright, supple and well rested when I used the mask.

- Sodium Hyaluronate: Hydrating, smaller form of hyaluronic acid with better penetration
- Orange Peel Oil: Rich in Vitamin C, brightening
- Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil: Balancing sebum production, mimicks rose scent while being cheaper
- Panthenol: B 5, humectant, penetrates into deep layers of skin, moisturizing, antiinflammatory
- Allantoin: Soothing irritated skin
- Caffeine: Tightening, firming
- Lactic Acid: AHA, exfoliating
- Niacinamide: Vitamin B3, fights free radicals, combats hyper pigmentation
- Panax Ginseng Root Extract: Antioxydant, promotes healing
- Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate: Precursor of Vitamin C, more stable, less irritant, brightening. antioxydant
- Butylene Glycol: Humectant, helps skin lock in moisture

Does it live up to its claims?
Yes.
My skin looks brighter, firmer, less dull. This is an immediate, but also a short time effect, which is the case for most face masks. It does contain the ingredients for subtle long-time results as well, so I recommend regular use.
Would I repurchase?
Yes.
Even though, #skintertainment aside, I would purchase one with similar ingredients even if it did not have the bubbles. Because the scientific proof for topically applied oxygen is small and the studies performed focused mainly on leave on gels or bandages, not on wash off products. It is undeniably fun though!
Who do I recommend it to?
People that need a prep before an event, it really makes a difference to your skin.
People that want extras in their routine. #skintertainment!
