Reviderm Collagen Eye Pads – Surviving the party season

I don’t know about you, but the constant invitations, nights spent at office Christmas parties and countless visits to the Christmas market drinking mulled wine until you get all warm and fuzzy inside definitely take their toll on my face.

Or at least, they used to. Because who am I kidding, there has been no nights out and no mulled wine for me lately, but instead an aching back, frequent trips to the bath room that prevent sleeping through the night and early wakeup calls from my daughter

But I look the same in the mornings, so it is a constant reminder of how it used to be back in the days, etched in my fine lines as well as my memory.

When Reviderm kindly sent me their Collagen Eye Pads Instant Unwrinkle to try, I was happy to give them a go.

My daughter will grow up after all, and there will be Christmas parties in my future! (Please, don’t disagree!)

What Reviderm claims:

Intensive Care for a vital and radiant appearance and reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. The protection system of the eye area is activated. I an few minutes the moisture depots are refilled and the skin looks firmer.

No preservatives, perfume or colourants, suitable for sensitive eyes.

Facts:

One box contains five sets of eye pads and is sold for 34 € here or 59 $ here. Each set is individually packaged, making them easy to store without having to worry about drying out.

The liquid is in a separate chamber and you are advised to press on it to empty it onto the pads immediately before use. You have to press quite hard to achieve this, but it does work and will not explode in your face, I promise.

So once you have cleansed your eye area, you press on the chamber, apply the pads plain side down on the eye-area and relax for 15 minutes. Or do the dishes. Relaxing is optional, but preferable.

When you apply them, keep a tissue at hand, because they are well and truly soaked with product that will start getting all over your face for the first 30 seconds. But once that excess is gone, they are comfortable and slightly cooling.

No stinging, no adverse reactions even though the liquid got into my eye at first attempt of application, but instead a slightly tighter and definitely more supple eye area. I once fell asleep with them put on (glamorous, I know), and they were completely dried out, but still comfortable after two hours of napping…

Favorable ingredients:

  • Collagen: Water-binding
  • Glycerin: Moisturizing
  • Radish Root Extract: Firming
  • Sodium Hyaluronate: Moisturizing

One word on collagen: There is no scientific proof that it can improve skin elasticity when applied topically. All that is known for sure is that the bigger the molecule, the less likely it is to penetrate the skin. Reviderm use “extra small peptides”, so chances are they penetrate better. But even without penetrating, collagen works well in keeping moisture in the skin.

Unfavorable Ingredients:

  • Paraffin (personal preference: I avoid it)
  • PEGs (personal preference: I don’t mind them)
  • Butylene Glycol (personal preference: not to keen on it)

Does it live up to its claims?

Yes.

It is moisturizing, thus reducing the appearance of fine lines, giving an instant lift to the eye area. And while I can´t vouch for the claim that it activates the eye area protection system (I don’t even know what that is meant to be, to be honest), it certainly did not irritate my eyes.

Will I rebuy?

Maybe.

It is a little expensive for a moisturizing treatment, but it feels like a real treat and very sophisticated to slap them on and rest on the couch. So I will see if the indulgence will be worth the price tag once I have used them up.

Who do I recommend it to?

If your eye area is dehydrated, your fine lines are becoming more prominent and you want to feel all lady-like, resting on the couch with these eye pads, then go for it.

Or if you want a luxurious stocking filler/ last minute gift for someone with mature skin (mother? wife?) that really is a treat, the Reviderm Collagen Eye Pads might be a good option.
