Reviderm Collagen Eye Pads – Surviving the party season

I don’t know about you, but the constant invitations, nights spent at office Christmas parties and countless visits to the Christmas market drinking mulled wine until you get all warm and fuzzy inside definitely take their toll on my face.

Reviderm Collagen Eye Pads
Reviderm Collagen Eye Pads

Or at least, they used to. Because who am I kidding, there has been no nights out and no mulled wine for me lately, but instead an aching back, frequent trips to the bath room that prevent sleeping through the night and early wakeup calls from my daughter

But I look the same in the mornings, so it is a constant reminder of how it used to be back in the days, etched in my fine lines as well as my memory.

When Reviderm kindly sent me their Collagen Eye Pads Instant Unwrinkle to try, I was happy to give them a go.

My daughter will grow up after all, and there will be Christmas parties in my future! (Please, don’t disagree!)

What Reviderm claims:

Intensive Care for a vital and radiant appearance and reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. The protection system of the eye area is activated. I an few minutes the moisture depots are refilled and the skin looks firmer.

No preservatives, perfume or colourants, suitable for sensitive eyes.

One box contains five sets of eye pads and is sold for 34 € here or 59 $ here. Each set is individually packaged, making them easy to store without having to worry about drying out.

The liquid is in a separate chamber and you are advised to press on it to empty it onto the pads immediately before use. You have to press quite hard to achieve this, but it does work and will not explode in your face, I promise.

Reviderm Collagen Eye Pads

So once you have cleansed your eye area, you press on the chamber, apply the pads plain side down on the eye-area and relax for 15 minutes. Or do the dishes. Relaxing is optional, but preferable.

When you apply them, keep a tissue at hand, because they are well and truly soaked with product that will start getting all over your face for the first 30 seconds. But once that excess is gone, they are comfortable and slightly cooling.

No stinging, no adverse reactions even though the liquid got into my eye at first attempt of application, but instead a slightly tighter and definitely more supple eye area. I once fell asleep with them put on (glamorous, I know), and they were completely dried out, but still comfortable after two hours of napping…

Favorable ingredients:

  • Collagen: Water-binding
  • Glycerin: Moisturizing
  • Radish Root Extract: Firming
  • Sodium Hyaluronate: Moisturizing

One word on collagen: There is no scientific proof that it can improve skin elasticity when applied topically. All that is known for sure is that the bigger the molecule, the less likely it is to penetrate the skin. Reviderm use „extra small peptides“, so chances are they penetrate better. But even without penetrating, collagen works well in keeping moisture in the skin.

Unfavorable Ingredients:

  • Paraffin (personal preference: I avoid it)
  • PEGs (personal preference: I don’t mind them)
  • Butylene Glycol (personal preference: not to keen on it)

Does it live up to its claims?

It is moisturizing, thus reducing the appearance of fine lines, giving an instant lift to the eye area. And while I can´t vouch for the claim that it activates the eye area protection system (I don’t even know what that is meant to be, to be honest), it certainly did not irritate my eyes.

Will I rebuy?

It is a little expensive for a moisturizing treatment, but it feels like a real treat and very sophisticated to slap them on and rest on the couch. So I will see if the indulgence will be worth the price tag once I have used them up.

Who do I recommend it to?

If your eye area is dehydrated, your fine lines are becoming more prominent and you want to feel all lady-like, resting on the couch with these eye pads, then go for it.

Or if you want a luxurious stocking filler/ last minute gift for someone with mature skin (mother? wife?) that really is a treat, the Reviderm Collagen Eye Pads might be a good option.

Have you tried something similar before?

  • This sounds awesome! My skin is very thirsty at the moment and the holiday season always takes its toll on my skin (late nights, bad food, lots of alcohol), so I could use something to undo or prevent some of the damage.

    • Yes, the joys of Christmas time: Food, booze and staying up late.

  • Looks great. 🙂

Looks really nice for my skin!

  • looks great. nice review

  • Great review, I’ve never tried that kind of products before but I’m looking forward to do so as I only just start to see my eye area as a sensitive area which needs its own treatments!

  • I have never used anything similar but it sounds good and relaxing! I don’t really go to any Christmas parties these days either, unless they are family parties!

    • It feels so decadent, applying them and lying on the couch. Like one of the ladys in tho old movies, with a damp cloth on her temples to „recover“.

Lovely review, very in-depth. I’ve never tried anything like this before, but perhaps I should, as my eyes are starting to show tell-tale signs of aging. I’m only 21, but my eyes are aging faster than my 46 year old mum (she does look fab for her age)… I need some help over here!!!x

Laura | Lala London: Beauty & Lifestyle

    • What eye cream have you been using so far? i started pretty early on (as recommended by my mum, who looks great!), and I do believe that has helped slowing down the aging process.

      • lauragale94

I use Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair serum around the eye area at bed time xx

        • I love that one, even though I use it all over my face. I think it is a great first step!

  • Kate

I’ve wanted to try some of these for ages! My „christmas parties“ are pretty much just meeting various people for dinner but to be honest, I prefer that! And I will totally get all glammed up for these dinners and will definitely need some pampering afterwards, because I will have had a couple of glasses of wine, and for me that’s all it takes! These are definitely on my list. x

    • Yes, as we age, the wine and the late nights become much harder to hide. Lucky for us, we earn our own money to spend on stuff like that. I guess that is called balance!

  • I love eye patches, I’ve tried the Sephora and Shiseido ones. They’re both great at (temporarily) reducing the appearance of my under eye creases, but I like the Shiseido ones a little bit better. They’re too expensive for me to use every day, but I think they are perfect to prep for a special occasion!

    • I recently looked at the Sephora ones, but didn’t pick them up. But now I cant wait to try more of them. Will put Shiseido on my list too, for a special treat someday.

  • I haven’t tried anything similar before, but I intrigued to give it a go. It sounds like a really great product 🙂 x

  • I have never tried anything like this before but they sound good! No nights out for me either! Gemma xx

  • Mary

These looks really nice… I’ll have to give them a try. I love the ones by SKII and also Shiseido. Have you tried those?

    Love, Mary

    • No, I haven’t. These were the first I ever tried, but my interest is piqued and I will look at others for sure. You are the second person mentioning Shiseido, I will put those on my wish list.

  • I’ve tried the ones from Skyn Iceland and if I am 100% honest, they’re nice, but I don’t see a massive difference once I take them off. Years ago I used Dr Hauschka’s Eye Solace, which were ampoules you’d use on cotton pads and rest on your eyes and found that much more effective.

    Inma x

    • Dr. Hauschka is readily available here, so maybe I will try those next. They really feel nice and luxurious, but they sure are expensive to use consistently.

  • I haven’t tried a product like this but it sounds like I should!! It’s so important to keep your eye area moisturized and looking fresh!

  • I am a HUGE collagen fan (currently drinking it now in my tea) – so this is something that def is piquing my interest. This is also perfect to put on while you are blogging or traveling. I will certainly keep these in mind. Thanks so much for sharing! xx SS

    • I can imagine them being really refreshing if you have a long distance flight, which is when my eyes tend to get all dry and red. Do you feel like drinking collagen makes a difference? I have never really looked into that.

      • Absolutely!! In fact, my boyfriend started putting it in his coffee, as well – which is annoying because he stole mine and I needed to buy a new one! But yessss so good for your skin & hair – def give it a go! I swear by it xx SS

        • If your boyfriend is convinced it must be great. My husband rarely participates in anything skincare/beauty related!

  • I’ve never heard of anything like this before, sounds very interesting!

  • Dressed With Soul

      • Dressed With Soul

Sehr gerne!

  • These sounds fantastic, must give them a try! Thank you for the ingredient breakdowns as well!

  • I’ve not tried eye patches of any sort. They seem a bit to expensive for the most part for my current beauty budget.

    • Yes, I think the price is pretty high. If you want them as a treat, it might be worth it, but I don’t think I can justify using them regularly like a face mask.

  • I have only used something similar from sephora, it is moisturising however nothing really special. This sounds like a good addition to a Sunday or monthly pampering routine. Do you have any other similar recommendations?

    • I haven’t tried any other brand (yet, I might add), but Shiseido seems to be well-loved in the comments. But pricey as well. If I find something similar, I will let you know.

  • Woah that looks amazing! Of course there will be plenty of Christmas parties, don’t worry 😉 I love your reviews, they are always so neat and detailed! Great job! xx

  • I’ve tried a sample of a different brand but cannot remember what it was. I love the concept of it plus it gets you to actually relax for a few minutes! Thanks for sharing your review!

    Doused In Pink

    • I am curious to branch out and test different brands. So far Sephora, Shiseido and Dr. Hauschka seem to be quite popular.

  • I tried something similar from Shiseido and although pricey, they worked very well for me. For some reason the area around my eyes tends to be very dry.

    Thirteen Thoughts

  • The concept sounds great! I think it´s worth giving it a try! 🙂 Thanks for the review! xxx

  • I’ve considered using these pads before, but found they don’t make too much of a difference to my under eyes.

Angie x | Chocolate & Lipstick || UK Beauty and Lifestyle Blog

    • I noticed they smoothed the skin due to the good hydration, but they are too pricey too use them regularly to see any long-term benefits, I guess.

  • Rosanna Briguglio

Great review, I must try something like this one day!
    Have a lovely day 🙂

  • I love this type of eye pad & would use them daily if I could afford to! xx

    • If money wasn’t an issue, I could see myself using them much more often than I do now. Which brands would you recommend?

      • The Shiseido ones are absolutely amazing and I really rate the Bliss ones too! x

        • The Shiseido ones have come up numerous times already, but I will note the Bliss ones too. Cant wait to try more…

  • Oh, unfortunately I have the feeling that expensive cosmetic is the best, but there sure are bargains for great things! These pads sound really nice, I’d try them out for sure! The party season is about to begin on my side, and to be honest, I really can’t wait! 🙂

  • I have tried a couple of these eye patches and there’s only one that I truly enjoyed which of course, bloody expensive too. I like that this didn’t bother your eye areas even after a couple of hours because I like to leave these treatments for at least an hour or more. Great review, Anne!

Reflection of Sanity | Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Care Package Giveaway (Canada ONLY)

  • I need these in my life. I have been struggling with horrid dark circles under my eyes and at 31 fine lines (cries) so I could do with a bit of a boost around the eye area! Thanks for sharing. xx

    • To be honest: If you want to get rid of dark circles, use Concealer and/or Corrector. They are 75% genetics I´m afraid. But other than that, try these or something similar. Many readers suggested the Sephora ones, who seem to be less expensive. Or the Shiseido ones, but I guess they are quite pricey as well…

      • I have them at the moment as I haven’t been sleeping as smoothly as I would like so more sleep and some great beauty products 😉

I have been impressed with some under eye products and it’s great to find nice concealers which don’t bring out your under eye wrinkles. I like YSL’s Touche Eclat for that, it’s not a heavy product and works nicely!

        Laura xxx

        • Yes, I have tried that one too, but I need a Corrector underneath. Otherwise the blueish tones will show through, especially since I became a mum and am thus constantly sleep deprived 😉
Heavy concealers tend to settle into my lines, too (I am almost 37 after all), so I avoid them in this area.

  • Toyas Tales

Do you think this product would work on sensitive eyes?

    • Yes, as long as you are careful not to actually get it too close to the eye.

  • Sounds very nice!

  • Definitely would love to be gifted these. My eye area is in need of moisturizing. But I don’t know if I would pay $59 for only 5.

    xx Yasmin

    • They are pricey, so a gift would be a great way to receive them. I am not sure if I would spend that much money on an eye mask. Maybe if I wanted to treat me to something special.

  • Wow these sound great! I did try something similiar once.. but I can’t really remember if I thought it was good or not. These definitely sound right up my (sleep-deprived) street 🙂

  • I have tried a similar product that was for overnight use and I was always amazed at how refreshed my eye area would look the next morning. These kind of pads do feel kind of like a treat. Yes you will surely have many Christmas parties in your future 🙂

  • I’ve tried a few similar pads before, and I had mixed results depending on the brand. Some did nothing, others were nicely moisturizing.

  • Nadia

Aww hope you will be able to get a proper sleep soon, hon. Are you feeling ok?
And yes, there will be tonnes of Christmas parties ahead 🙂
These pads sound so nice! I would love to try them just on a pamper evening. I’m sure the moisturizing effect is there, and it’s great. Lovely review, Anne!

I love how you compared partying to pregnancy haha. I haven’t tried anything like this before, but I need something mainly for dark circles. I’m thinking of trying that concealer you mentioned in your video. I just hope it doesn’t irritate my skin to much.

    • I don’t think any amount of skincare can cure dark circles, so Concealer is really your best bet.
