MV Organic Skincare Pure Jojoba – Not in my bathroom

I like luxury skincare, that is no secret. But I don´t like using high end just for the sake of it. If there is a drugstore item that does the job at half the price just as good, I am going to use that one.

Sometimes though there are products that can be easily duped for their main purpose, but are unique when used for something else. Like the MV Organic Skincare Pure Jojoba. I got it as a gift with purchase, used it as I saw fit and later read the instructions on the homepage.

Where they actually recommend it as eye makeup remover.

A 45 $ eye makeup remover? Not in my bathroom!

I´ll stick with using it differently, thank you very much.

Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm

2007 German government decided that smoking in public buildings would be banned. That included pubs, restaurants and cafés, basically everywhere food was served and consumed.

I was 20 in 2007, and hanging out in pubs was much more common for me than nowadays. Even though I didn´t smoke myself, I was never bothered by friends or strangers smoking in my presence. Until the day I learned how much better I felt the next morning if I hadn´t been surrounded by smoke the whole night.

Less dry throat and eyes, less headache, less grey skin… But the most important thing? Not having to deal with the scent of old smoke in my hair and clothes. Honestly, not having to wash my hair after being out simply because the smell would make me nauseous was amazing!

Why I am telling you this story from times long gone, you ask? Because when sniffing the Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm, I get a faint hint of that smell. Not overpowering, and not preventing me from using (and, spoiler alert, enjoying) the product, but enough to remind me how lucky I am to no longer have to deal with that.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% – Big yellow taxi

„Don’t it always seem to go. That you dont know what youve got. Till it’s gone

That is what Joni Mitchell sang in „Big Yellow Taxi“, and yes, you will probably need to google it and never really heard of the song (or her) before, but I like it and I am old and this is my blog and so I will continue to refer to lyrics from 1970.

And it is what came to my mind after I started using The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% recently and was puzzled about how much it changed my skin.

If you are an old (ha!) time reader, you may remember that in many Empties post and in many a skincare routine, La Roche Posay Serozinc (here) featured heavily. Somehow I stopped using it late last year. No specific reason, I just had other mists that I deemed more appropriate for the season.

My t-zone got oiler after a few weeks, but I didn´t really make the connection.

Until I introduced The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% in my routine and could literally watch that change…

Winter Evening Skincare Routine 2017 – Atmospheric inversion

This blog post contains *PR-Samples and affiliate links. Please see disclaimer.

Are you ready to go on a meteorological tangent with me? I promise, it will tie in with todays video!

Have you ever heard the term atmospheric inversion? It is a kind of weather very common in winter, when the layers of air closest to the ground are much colder than the ones higher up. If winter is cold where you live, chances are you’ll experience atmospheric inversion for the first half of the colder months.

Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash – Just my take

This blog post contains PR-Samples and affiliate links. Please see disclaimer.

I know I start most reviews with a little story, but things will be different this time. I just had too much to say about the product itself and didn´t want to waste your precious time.

So, the product. The Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash *.

I have to admit I had a hard time with this product.

It starts with the mixing. The cleanser is a powder cleanser you need to freshly prepare by adding water. Or adding it to water. Your call.

After numerous attempts (and product wasted), I think I have found a way that works for me: I pour water into a small pot and then add powder. This seems to be the best way to actually control the viscosity and amount of cleanser I will get, as adding water to the powder inevitably lead to a “Just a drop more… one more… Ups!”-situation in my clumsy hands.

Now, with the mixing down, I could finally focus on the effects the Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash * had on my skin.

And this is where my second concern comes in: The main ingredient is baking soda or sodium bicarbonate. Now I know that baking soda is praised high and low in natural and DIY exfoliants, but added to water it is alkaline. And our skin is acidic, for good reason, as this acid mantle protects against dehydration and bacteria. Now the product claims to have a pH of 5.5, which is acidic, but I can by no means see how that is supposed to be achieved with these ingredients?

But how did it fare? Let´s see.
