Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum – Not an INCI blog

I am NOT a skincare guru.

It is incredibly flattering when my blogging buddies call me that, and I am happy and grateful for everyone reading here and trusting my reviews, but I would never (ever!) claim that title for myself.

You see: This is NOT an INCI blog. I am not a chemist, nor do I have any experience working in the industry.

I am a doctor, and even though I have read a ton of scientific publications and dermatological textbooks, I would be lost if I had to come up with my own formula.

While I do think that I know more about skincare than the average person (even more than the average beauty blogger), I am still not an expert in this field, as blogs like Lab Muffin tend to teach me.

There is still so much to learn, and until I know everything, being called a skincare guru simply feels wrong.

So keep that in mind while reading my review on the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum.

Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution – Risks

This blogpost contains affiliate links. Please see disclaimer

Did you know that back in the days some women used to apply radioactive powder to their cheeks?

Starting in the 20s, before the negative side effects were discovered, so called „gentle radiation“ was considered a natural way to strengthen health and enhance beauty. The radiation in the powder lead to increased blood flow where applied and so provided the much coveted natural flush.

The long term effects of course were horrible.

And while we today shake our heads in disbelief when reading things like that, we should probably take a step back and look at our own beauty routines once in a while. What is considered safe now might proove to be detrimental in the future. Or vice versa. The question is: What risk are we willing to take when it comes to beauty?

A very personal question. And one that I recently had to answer for myself regarding the Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution.

Hyperpigmentation – Everything you need to know

When I was 15 and returned from a beach holiday, my boyfriend kissed me and said: “I never realized you had such cute freckles!”

Quite honestly, I had never realized either, but I was flattered. When you are 15, you are easily flattered by things your boyfriend says, and, for the most part, you have no clue what freckles actually are.

Hyperpigmentation – Everything you need to know

Now that I am older (way older), wiser (debatable) and less easily flattered, I know that these freckles were the first hyper pigmentation that showed on my skin, and quite a few more marks have since then appeared.

So let´s today face (pun intended) the facts: Hyperpigmentation – Everything you need to know.

Alpha H Liquid Gold – Acid Toning Week Part 1

Acid Toning Week – sounds fancy.
Like a proper blog theme week. But let´s not get overexcited, shall we?

In fact, I just wanted to write about my experiences after introducing acids into my skincare routine about two years ago, and as I have three different on rotation at the moment, I figured, it would just last me a week.

To put it out there: I had never even heard about acid toning until 2012. Shocking, I know.
Of course, Salicylic and Lactic Acid were no strangers to me, but even though they would make their appearance during my workday, the thought of using them on my skin never occurred to me.

I suffer from breakouts and hyper pigmentation, as I seem to mention in every other blogpost, and one day while aimlessly clicking away as you do, I stumbled upon a blogpost on A model recommends (still one of my favorite blogs) talking about Alpha H Liquid Gold with Glycolactic Acid and how it helped with even that. I was tempted, but as it is quite on the pricey side, I hesitated and forgot.

Discovering Caroline Hirons (the queen of skincare) closely after, I browsed her „Cheat Sheets“, and there they were again: Acids. Mentioned both in Acne and in Anti-Ageing, they sounded to good to be true.

And so I took the leap of faith and invested in some Alpha H Liquid Gold.
