February is a weird month for me. On one hand it is filled with birthday celebrations (read here), on the other hand it is a transitional month at it´s worst.
Lots of people complained about January dragging on, but at least January is proper winter! I get comfort from hot chocolate, warm blankets and dark lips, all the things that make winter worthwile. Once February arrives though, I get spring fever.
I want warm sun on my face, I want to loose the layers and I want light and airy makeup. But outside there is freezing cold, and, judging by the last few weeks, grey clouds and snow drizzle.
So no new makeup purchases, at least no spring makeup purchases, but new skincare. From shopping my stash mostly, but that is shopping after all!

When I was filming this video, I was pretty content with myself. Not only did I like the way my hair looked – call me vain, but these things can make or break a day -, but I was satisfied with having yet another batch of products finished to show you.
After starting to make a conscious effort to actually finish products and not let the last bit go to waste while saving it for a special day, I felt like I made really good progress.
Practice makes perfect, that is true for everything in life, makeup included. But some things are harder to practice than others.
Take liquid liner for example. It is an obvious black line on your face. So if the practice isn´t there already, but you still need to leave the house that day, you are in a difficult situation. You could of course hide for a few days and draw a line over and over again. But that would be kind of excessive don´t you think? It does work though. Let´s just say that I started wearing liquid liner in a time where I had no work commitments and obviously no social life to speak of.
Or you could turn to a product that makes applying liquid liner ridiculously easy. Because it is designed like a pen, one you grab and draw a line like you have done it a hundred times before. Just on paper, not on your eyes. Should work the same, no?
I grabbed the L´Oréal Super Liner Blackbuster recently and put it to the test.
In case you missed the Spring Edition, here is the link to the post explaining what the Seasonal Makeup Challenge is all about.
For the rest of us, the rules as a quick reminder:
„At the beginning of a season (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) I will choose some pieces of makeup from my stash and post them here. By the end of that season I shall post how well (or not) I’ve done using them up, and propose new pieces for the following season.“ (The Polished Polyglot)
So without further ado, here is the recap of the Spring challenge and my picks for summer.
Before my Favorites-break I used to do “Favorite Face of..” posts, where I showed you my most worn makeup in the form of a miniature tutorial.
But looking back now, only a few things that I used really were true favorites. Many of the things (like concealers or mascara) just got applied for the sake of finishing them. And on top of that my everyday makeup isn’t probably something you really want to see, as it is a little repetitive over time.
So I decided to go for a true monthly favorites style this time, including makeup, skincare and a few other things that have been entertaining me, conveniently summarized as lifestyle, which can be almost anything.
If you are not familiar with the “Inspired by…” series, click here for an explanation.
But short story even shorter, each month I choose a seasonal ad and try to recreate the models look with colors I already own.
Dressing up and awkward posing included!
This months installment is the Dior Glowing Gardens Collection, which stood out to me due to the fact that the model was wearing yellow eyeshadow, paired with purple.
To be honest, I didn’t own a yellow eyeshadow and don’t think it is a color I´d get much use out of, but with “Fasching” (carnival) in Germany in full swing when I filmed it, there were a lot of drugstore options available. And with an affordable yellow at hand, it was time to get filming!
If you are not familiar with the “Favorite Face of …” series, click here for a little introduction. Short story even shorter, it is the makeup that I wore most during that month, featuring the favorite (as in most used) makeup products.
