Mascara reviews. I haven’t done them in a while. In fact, the last one I did was on IGTV (Anyone remember that platform? It seems only brands upload teasers of their new releases there anymore.)
Kind of strange, when you think of it, as mascara is the makeup item I use every day and is the one that I replace most frequently. I might not be worried too much about expiration dates in my other face paint, but as a contact lens wearer mascara that has been open too long makes me uneasy – ain´t nobody got time for an eye infection!
If I am honest, the only reason is that I find mascara pictures incredibly hard to take. No matter how long I try, study the angles and admire the pristine pictures on other blogs, my attempts turn out dark, blurry or odd. Time to get practicing, I guess, so I can share more mascara reviews with you in the time to come!
And just like that, another month has passed, and with this, 2018 comes to an end. Did it drag on? Did it fly by? I have heard both.
But I am not here today to reflect on the year that passed, no. I want to talk about the month that ends today, my hectic and sugar filled December.
Although maybe hectic isn´t the right word (sugar filled is, no denying that). Maybe eventful is more fitting, given that I thoroughly enjoyed every event I attended, Christmas related or not. I visited a Christmas Market at our local zoo with the kids, which was magical (despite me getting Whamed on December 2nd!), met up with people I hadn´t seen for almost a decade and went on my first LARP in six years.
I wouldn´t mind going on like that, maybe cut back a little on the sugar (New Years Resolutions and such), but putting an emphasis on the people in my life that make me happy.

I love a glamorous makeup look as much as the next beauty blogger, but even if I´d say I am wearing quite a lot of makeup compared to other women around me, I can´t help but feel a little intimidated by the Full Glam Holiday Makeup Tutorials I have seen recently.
Glitter, red lips, I am down for that (in fact I want to be buried with my favorite red lipstick, just in case you actually CAN take things with you to the other side). But the full Instagram Glam with the cut crease and strong contour? I wouldn´t feel myself when wearing that.
And as I am very comfortable with feeling myself, I figured I would do my own version of a Holiday Makeup Tutorial, using contour, shimmer, false lashes and red lipstick… But in a way that still feels like myself.
Wearable Holiday Glam Makeup? Mature Holiday Glam Makeup? Boring Holiday Makeup? Whatever you want to call it, here is the tutorial!

November is done and dusted, and tomorrow will be the day I get the boxes with Christmas decoration from the basement and start randomly putting them on available surface spots.
Not kidding here, I am a lost cause when it comes to decorating, no matter how much Inspiration Boards I have on Pinterest.
But I am making an effort, for the kids mostly, as I want them to embrace the spirit of the season.
While we get all festive here, why not take the time and browse through my most recent blogposts, just in case you missed some? And if you did, consider subscribing to my Newsletter here, which I will actually send out once more than me and my mother are subscribed.
I know that having an actual mailing list is uber important for blogs, but given that we share a house I don´t think my mother needs my updates electronically.

October was the month that autumn well and truly arrived in Germany. Up until October 19th it was warm enough to leave the house without a jacket, even in the evenings, something that I only realized when on that day, October 19th, I actually felt a chill walking back to the car with Mr. Loca at 10 pm. Now Germany is not a cold country, but that was unusual.
As it was to be expected, the period of sunny, but chilly weather that makes you take contemplative walks and kick up the colorful leaves didn´t last long either. By the time I write this it is grey and miserable outside, rain drizzling down on what is no longer colorful, but mostly rotten foliage.
Perfect to stay in and have a good old blog read, am I right? Here is what I wrote about last month.

I actually wanted to try Huda Beauty a while ago, when they released their Faux Filter Foundation (that still sits on my list of things to try). But when I went to get color matched, the Sephora sales person in Berlin was that rude and unhelpful I decided not to spend any money there and just leave the store.
That put me off the brand a little, but when I received the Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Palette as a GWP, I figured it was a sign to let go of that grudge and get testing.
To keep things short and sweet I filmed a review and tutorial for one look, but added pictures of two other makeup looks at the end, along with where I used which shade – Do let me know if you prefer it this way or want step by step tutorials on all looks next time.
Times are busy, and I feel like they get busier every day. Catching up with my favorite blogs daily is something I haven´t been able to do in a long while, and as I figured you are probably in the same boat, I decided to introduce the Monthly Recap series.
It is meant to be an overview of all the blog posts I have written, all the videos I have uploaded and a few extra informations thrown in for good measure. To make it easier to find what you are interested in I split it in three categories: Skincare, Makeup and Lifestyle.
Looking back at August for me means looking back at my annual holiday in France, two weeks filled with sun, sea and (probably too many) croissants. I decided against vlogging (it would just have been me eating all the time), but put up a France 2018 Highlight on my Instagram Profile should you be in the mood for some snaps.

Years of teenage and then adult acne have left me with a lot of discoloration, and even though my skin is now better than it ever was before, I tend to wear some kind of face base when I leave the house.
Back in the days I would go for full coverage, most likely looking like I was about to step on stage, but nowadays I prefer a light hand, putting concealer to good use.
Just give me a natural finish, added skincare benefits (when you reach a certain age, there is no time to waste) and sunscreen and I am all in.
Laura Merciers Tinted Moisturizer in Oil free is well loved among the beauty community, so of course I had to give it a go.
