Cattier Paris Clay Mask – Green, pink and yellow

This blog post contains affiliate links. Please read disclaimer.

I usually tend to review one product at a time in a desperate attempt to limit the length of my blog posts. I know that SEO tells me „the longer, the better“, as it tells Google you are actually providing value, but I personally wouldn´t read a blog post with 1000+ words.

And of course I know I could just cut back on my „introduction“ (the ramble that preceeds the valuable content), but I wouldn´t enjoy it half as much then and it is actually kind of rude to point that out!

This time though I will try to review all three of the Cattier Clay Face Masks at once, hoping to still make it a reasonably long blog post as the ingredients don´t differ too much.

Wish me luck!

Monthly Recap – Blog Post Topics October 2018

This blog post contains affiliate links and *PR-Samples. Please see disclaimer.

October was the month that autumn well and truly arrived in Germany. Up until October 19th it was warm enough to leave the house without a jacket, even in the evenings, something that I only realized when on that day, October 19th, I actually felt a chill walking back to the car with Mr. Loca at 10 pm. Now Germany is not a cold country, but that was unusual.

October impressions
Fall is truly here

As it was to be expected, the period of sunny, but chilly weather that makes you take contemplative walks and kick up the colorful leaves didn´t last long either. By the time I write this it is grey and miserable outside, rain drizzling down on what is no longer colorful, but mostly rotten foliage.

Perfect to stay in and have a good old blog read, am I right? Here is what I wrote about last month.

pixi Rose Glow Mist – Absynthe

This blog post contains *PR-Samples and affiliate links. Please read disclaimer.

I have never been someone to enjoy alcohol. Not because of health reasons (I mean, I eat a ton of sugary crap without second thoughts, so surely a glass of bubbly wouldn´t really matter).

It is just that I simply don´t like the taste. Am I missing out? Maybe. I usually don´t think about that.

But there are a few kinds of alcohol that intrigue me. Not because of the taste, simply because I love the story behind them, the aura they have, the lifestyle they stand for. Examples are Champagne (because who wouldn´t want to sip on high class bubbles for celebrations), Whiskey (Outlander. Need I say more?) and Absynthe.

Yes, Absynthe, the „Green Fairy“, said to be poisonous and hallucinatory and inspire artists all over the world. These days we know that it is neither toxic nor alters the mental state more than other alcohols do, but the story, the mystery, the aura of creativity and danger remain.

Would I see things different if I drank Absynthe? I guess I will never know. But skincare containing Artemisia Absynthium does not have that effect. Believe me, I have tried when using the pixi Rose Glow Mist *.

Caudalie Vinopure Set – Overview

This blog post contains affiliate links. Please read disclaimer.

I have talked about the three different products mentioned here before, and I will make sure to link each individual review as I go on, but I still felt the need to give you an overview of the Caudalie Vinopure Set as well.

Because just like the ingredient list doesn’t tell you the whole story about how a product is going to work, looking at each individual product in a set won’t tell you if the set as a whole is something worth spending money on.

The advice you get when being a set is almost as important as the different products inside, because the whole point of a set is to get products that play nicely together and enhance each others effects.

If that is true for the Caudalie Vinopure Set?

pixi Retinol Tonic – Honesty

This blog post contains PR-Samples and affiliate links. Please read disclaimer

How honest are reviews supposed to be? I mean, really honest of course, at least in terms of ingredients, quality and effects on the skin.

But do you have to mention everything that comes to mind when talking about a product? I don´t think you do, but to let you be the judge, I will include one thought that might not entirely be selling the pixi Retinol Tonic. Even though I, spoiler alert, love it.

(P.S: If you want to read a review on the pixi Glow Tonic, click here)

It is the scent. It is pleasant, very light and doesn´t linger. Lavender with a bit of freshness (maybe the Jasmine? I am lost when it comes to fragrance).

But, paired with the light lavender color I can´t help but think of our all natural Frosch Lavendel Bathroom Cleaner.

A bathroom cleaner I love, but probably wouldn´t apply to my face.

Totally not selling it here, am I? Let´s see if I can still convince you that the pixi Retinol Tonic is all kinds of awesome after this introduction…

Jade Roller – What is it and what does it do?

This blog post contains affiliate links. Please read disclaimer.

Jade roller, facial roller, jade facial massage tool – no matter how you call it, you have heard about it.

To be honest, I never really bothered with this trend until I recieved not only one, but two different devices as a GWP and curiosity got the better of me. Of course I had to dig deep, and by dig deep I mean that I didn´t only look at the science behind them, but ventured into topics like crystal healing that I admit I had no clue about before.

Now as a long time follower you will know that I am, by heart, a scientist.

I did my best to present my findings in a neutral way, but feel the need to do this disclaimer: I am sure there are many things out there that science can not (yet) explain. Absence of proof is not proof of absence, but at the same time claiming that the ancient Egypts did XY doesn´t make a practice right.

6500 years ago a cavity was filled with honey and beeswax, but I still think our current way of dental care is superior.

What I am trying to say is basically: let´s talk about jade roller and lets do it with respect for each others opinion.

klairs Soft Airy UV Essence – The best SPF?

This blog post contains PR-Samples and affiliate links. Please read disclaimer.

I recently read a great article on marketing claims on a fellow bloggers website (Skin Care Inspirations). The article was inspired by someone asking her on Instagram why she accepted mineral oil in her skincare if she wouldn´t put it in her salad, which lead to a very interesting read about whether or not natural is always better, especially if you have sensitive skin.

The reason why I link her here is because the klairs Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50 PA++++ claims to be an „everyday sun protector for sensitive skin“, while still containing Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Oil.

Citrus essential oils in SPF are strange to say the least, as many (not this one) contain furocumarine, which are phototoxic and should not be applied within 12 hours before sun exposure. And while Citrus Aurantium Dulcis oil does NOT contain furocumarine, essential oils in general are potentially sensitizing (just like artificial fragrance is), so I wouldn´t recommend them for sensitive skin.

Why it was added to the klairs Soft Airy UV Essence in the first place? I don´t know, but I will share my thoughts on the product below.

Caudalie Vinopure Skin Perfecting Mattifying Fluid

This blog post uses affiliate links. Please read disclaimer.

Why can’t I for the life of me type Caudalie? I mean, I have written the name how often over the last three months, six times?

And that is six times in blog post titles only, I don’t even want to count how often the term Caudalie appeared in the corresponding text and social media shares.

And yet I keep writing Caudlaie, which to my eye somehow looks right (don’t even try to pronounce it though).

Why I have written it so often? It is not that I am obsessed with the brand, even though I admit they do have some gems. It is mostly because I first raided my mothers stash for her products and then discovered the Caudalie Vinopure trio aimed at congestion prone and oily skin.

Now that I have tested my way through all three products (read part one here and part two here), it is time to end the series with my thoughts on the Caudalie Vinopure Skin Perfecting Mattifying Fluid, bringing the count up to seven.

October Empties 2018 – Taking out the trash 19

This blogpost contains *PR-Samples and affiliate links. Please read disclaimer.

The drama with the You Tube thumbnail…

I swear taking the thumbnail takes me longer than filming the actual video itself! Especially now that I´ve learned that thumbnails with faces have a higher CTR than the ones showing products only.

October Empties 2018
Literally seconds before things fell out.

CTR, for those of you wondering, means click-through-rate and stands for the number of people that click on the video after seeing the thumbnail.

I am not sure why my face would help in selling a video, but I do know for sure that it takes me ages to take a picture that doesn´t look like I am a complete moron grinning into a camera.

Maybe it is the fact that I do take the picture while holding up a basket full of empty bottles.

I guess it is kind of hard to look sane when doing that.

Caudalie Vinopure Blemish Control Infusion Serum – Two birds, one stone

Multitasking –  I have talked about that numerous times before. It just seems to be a recurrent thing in my life, albeit not always a successful one.

Just the other day, running on 1.5 hours of sleep, I tried to multitask feeding the cat and preparing my sons breakfast at the same time.

Well… let’s just put it that way: My son would eat about anything I serve him, the cat is much more picky.

Good thing I served the cat first and could quickly switch bowls before my son excitedly dug into his surprisingly meaty muesli…

So, once again, I vow to leave the multitasking to my skincare products, opting for versions that combine several beneficial ingredients at once. Like the Caudalie Vinopure Blemish Control Infusion Serum.
