The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2 % + B5 – #firstworldproblems

This blog post contains affiliate links. Please read disclaimer.

Is the „feels“ side of a product important to you? Or is the sensual experience secondary, as long as a product delivers?

And isn´t even asking this question the epitome of #firstworldproblems?

I guess it is. If a product delivers ingredientwise, shouldn´t that be the only thing that matters? Why would we spend more just to have a more pleasant experience when applying something?

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2 % + B5

A question I do ask myself quite often when it comes to The Ordinary products, and one that I have yet to find an answer for.

But I have learned, the „feels“ do matter to me, and, within reason of course, I am willing to pay extra just because something feels nicer.

Last product to proove that? The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2 % + B5

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel – Little Mermaid

This blog post contains affiliate links. Please read disclaimer.

I love „The little mermaid“ by Hans Christian Andersen. My parents had to read it to me countless times, even though I´d always end up in tears.

Mind you, although it is what inspired Disneys „Arielle“, the original story only bares slight resemblance to that movie. It is much darker, full of death and blood and loss.

Ah, you´ve got to love the old stories, told to prepare children for the cruel and dangerous world they were facing!

The little mermaid never gains the love of the prince, nor does she get an immortal soul or a functional human body. Though trying, mute and in constant pain, to win his love, the prince marries another woman. When offered the opportunity to kill him (and his bride) to at least regain her mermaid self, she decides to die instead, turning into sea foam and becoming a daughter of the air.

Wouldn´t count as a happy end, don´t you think? Seeing the story as a transformation, innocence first, then the catastrophy and in the end your changed self, formed by what you experienced, is what made me think of it right now.

Why? Because the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel goes through three different stages as well. Without the loss, pain and blood though, promised!

Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser – Summer lovin´

Summer lovin´, happened so fast…

Whenever temperatures are up and a beach holiday is in the cards, this line from Grease is my constant companion.

Not that I have had many summer flings lately, my beach days are filled with sand toys and my idea of a wild night is going to bed after ten pm.

But the lack of fiery-eyed gigolos in my recent past (Mr. Loca is handsome, but not fiery-eyed) doesn’t mean that I can´t enjoy a little summer affair.

I just shift my attention to skincare products.

The cleanser I am flirting with in 2018? Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum – Not an INCI blog

This blogpost contains affiliate links. Please read disclaimer.

I am NOT a skincare guru.

It is incredibly flattering when my blogging buddies call me that, and I am happy and grateful for everyone reading here and trusting my reviews, but I would never (ever!) claim that title for myself.

You see: This is NOT an INCI blog. I am not a chemist, nor do I have any experience working in the industry.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum

I am a doctor, and even though I have read a ton of scientific publications and dermatological textbooks, I would be lost if I had to come up with my own formula.

While I do think that I know more about skincare than the average person (even more than the average beauty blogger), I am still not an expert in this field, as blogs like Lab Muffin tend to teach me.

There is still so much to learn, and until I know everything, being called a skincare guru simply feels wrong.

So keep that in mind while reading my review on the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum.

Asambeauty Vitamin E Skin Smoothing 24 hour cream

This blog post contains PR-samples and affiliate links. Please see disclaimer.

When it came to jewelry, I used to be silver only for many years. Not because it suited me best, but because wearing gold made me feel older than I actually was.

In my mind golden rings and bracelets were reserved for, you know, adults. People that earned money in proper jobs and knew what they were talking about. If I wore gold, I felt like dressing up as someone I wasn´t, a girl pretending to be her mother.

With more knowledge about skin tones and warm and cool colors I came to realize that gold actually suits me way better than silver does. On top of that I had to admit that despite having a proper job now and earning money (hell, even being a mother!) I would probably never feel like I belonged to the truly adult people. The ones that know what they are talking about.

In fact, I came to wonder if anyone really ever feels like he belongs to that group of adult adults, but I digress.

Coming back to topic (or at least as close to topic as I ever get): These days I mix and match my jewelry, but I still consider gold, especially combined with white, a very grown up combination. The Asambeauty Vitamin E Skin Smoothing 24h Cream * is white and gold in packaging, and a sophisticated and grown-up cream indeed.

Tata Harper Nourishing Oil Cleanser – Just not the same

This blog post contains affiliate links. Please see disclaimer.

We all have expectations when it comes to brands. They are triggered by marketing, packaging, maybe reviews we have seen online.

And, quite often, by the experiences we have had before.

Review: Tata Harper Nourishing Oil Cleanser
Tata Harper Nourishing Oil Cleanser

If the first product was a huge disappointment, we will approach others with caution.

If the first product blew us away, we get all excited to try more.

So basically, if the first product is a hit, the brand has won. Right?

Wrong.

Case in point? I loved the Tata Harper Purifying Gel Cleanser (Review) so much everything that came afterwards stood no chance. Like the Tata Harper Nourishing Oil Cleanser. A great product, but still… Not THAT good.

But let´s see.

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation – Mind, body and soul

This blog post contains affiliate links. Please see disclaimer

Transforming yourself, be it body, mind or soul seems to be a necessity these days. And while I am all about personal development and life long learning, I think we have to remember every once in a while that not everything we are is a constant work in progress. That would take a lot of pressure out of our daily lifes and sometimes even help things to stay good instead of being transformed into something else simply for transformations sake.

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation
Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation

You see, the Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation moisturizer I am reviewing today is not only all about transformation, but it recently was subject to transformation itself. A transformation that left many fans disappointed, judging by the statements on the website here.

So please keep in mind when reading that I am still reviewing the old formula of Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation and that I have no means to judge how big of a difference to the new one now sold there will be. Comparing ingredient lists I don´t see major changes, so maybe the fear of transformation is what made people mad, not the actual transformation itself? And no, I was under no pressure to use the word “transformation” as often as I did, just in case you are wondering…

erborian Solid Cleansing Oil – Scents

This blog post contains affiliate links. Please see disclaimer

Are you a perfume girl? I most definitely am not. I struggle to even remember to apply it once in the mornings, let alone reapply throughout the day. My collection consists of three bottles, and only two get used regularly.

So it is safe to say, I am not your best bet when it comes to describing scents.

How does that smell? –Nice. Story of my life.

Review: erborian Solid Cleansing Oil
erborian Solid Cleansing Oil

When reading up on the erborian Solid Cleansing Oil, someone mentioned it smelled like green tea. Ever since I have been sniffing my cleansing balm like a mad woman, trying to make up my mind what it actually smells like. So far I haven´t succeeded. The only thing I can safely say though is that to me, the erborian Solid Cleansing Oil does smell nothing like green tea.

I guess it is time to stop trying and focus on everything else the erborian Solid Cleansing Oil has to offer. Because the scent is just a small part of the package.

pixi Glow O2 Oxygen mask – Ox and horn

This blog post contains *PR-Samples and affiliate links. Please see disclaimer.

In Germany there is a saying that indicates the impossibility of getting a reaction from someone. Roughly translated it means: “Like pinching an ox in the horn.”

I often think about this saying when I try to get a reaction from my husband regarding new lipsticks, nail polish choices or truly anything makeup related. In fact I was sure that no matter what I´d do, he´d always look at me and say: “Whatever.”

pixi Glow O2 Oxygen Mask

Turns out I was wrong! The pixi Glow O2 Oxygen mask * did provoke an immediate reaction:

I applied it, left the bath room and ran into Mr. Loca. He, used to my beauty shenanigans, looked at me in disbelief, shook his head and said: “Now you have completely lost your mind.”

Not the effect I was going for, I admit, but at least an instant reaction from a man that usually grunts when asked his opinion.

But which other effects did the pixi Glow O2 Oxygen mask * provide?
