Too Faced Love Flush blushes – Rainbows and unicorns

I am going to start this post with a really unpopular opinion: I don´t like unicorns. Or rainbows. Nah, let me rephrase that: I like rainbows in the sky, but I don´t need them on my mug, my brushes or anywhere in my living room.

And I don´t need glitter, hearts and kittens either.

Because despite not being minimalistic in my makeup hoarding, I prefer sleek, Scandinavian vibes in my surroundings. Which is probably why Too Faced as a brand never really appealed to me. Quite frankly, when I look at most of their packaging I am reminded of the Barbie makeup I so desperately wished for when I was ten. Never got it, got books instead. Thanks mum, see what this has done to me?

But I won a set of Too Faced products in a giveaway last year, and not opening makeup you own would be rude, don´t you agree? I wasn´t raised to be rude, so I decided to look past the packaging and…

… was pleasantly surprised. At least with half of the set.

Just to not waste anyones time: The lipglosses, all three of them, are utter crap, so I will no longer mention them after this short paragraph. They have barely any pigmentation, have a very (very) strong tingling sensation and the promised plumping effect is subtle. Subtle as in not noticeable. If anything my lips felt sore after application.

But the blushes! They had me raving in my March favorites video already, where you can see all three applied to my cheeks. *click*

The set contained “Baby Love”, a neutral blush with a hint of peach and subtle golden shimmer, “Crazy in Love”, a bold warm pink again with subtle golden shimmer and “Dream Lover”, a matte lavender color.

The claims

  • Long-wear, fade-proof, smudge-proof formula keeps cheeks flushed for up to 16 hours
  • Buttery soft pigments bond with skin and take on a weightless, suspended look
  • Rich, pigmented shades offer unabashedly bold color payoff

Now I have not tested these blushes for 16 hours, but I have worn them for 13 hours straight and I can tell you, these shades stay put. They have a great color payoff, so use a light hand when applying “Crazy in Love”, otherwise you will look like you are about to go to a 80s revival party.

Been there, done that.

If it is any consolation, even a “too much” in color is easily blended at the edges.

Out of the three, “Crazy in Love” is my favorite, but surprisingly even the lavender shade gets quite some love and all three are staples in my makeup bag.

So if you are ready to look past the (tacky) packaging, six different colors are available on the website here for 26 $.

Or maybe you are into hearts, rainbows and unicorns? (I don´t judge, you do you.) Because if you are, there is absolutely no reason not to buy these blushes.
